Assistant High School Volleyball Coach

APPLICATION PERIOD:

May 7 – May 26, 2026, THEN OPEN UNTIL FILLED

DESCRIPTION OF THE CURRENT ASSIGNMENT:

Provide leadership, supervision, and organization of a specific interscholastic activity, teaching all aspects of the sport including fundamentals and strategies to individuals or groups. Provide assistance to the head coach.

DEMONSTRATED ABILITIES/PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

• take a genuine interest in every student participant by teaching core fundamentals and empowering the improvement of every student-athlete
• demonstrates a clear and consistent focus on creating continuity in the sport from level-to-level and year-to-year
• a willingness to timely communicate with student-athletes, parents, and others about the progress of the individual and team
• modeling and reinforcing professional conduct in adverse situations
• formulate decisions based on the school’s mission in relation to the student-athlete and team
• diligence in keeping current with all aspects of the sport, including requirements for coaching certification
• seeking to learn and grow as an advocate for student-athletes and the sport within the school’s mission

QUALIFICATIONS TO FILL THE CURRENT ASSIGNMENT:

• Pomeroy School District #110 is seeking to fill the current vacancy based upon the applicant’s abilities to meet criteria outlined in the Job Description.

COMPENSATION:

Placement on the Extra Curricular Salary Schedule beginning at $2627

ATTENTION: PHS has a NEW local scholarship

Doris & Duane Burns and Janice & Max Ruchert Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by Renee & Tom Ruchert:

The Burns and Rucherts were long time Pomeroy High School supporters and are awarding a $3,000 scholarship to a current PHS senior who will be graduating or a PHS graduate who is currently attending college.

The Burns and Rucherts promote and support secondary education either at a 2 year community college, 4 year university or trade school. The award committee will consider the need for financial assistance, the dedication of the student to their studies, involvement in the school and community, as well as their career goals. Please submit a letter that not only addresses the areas listed above but also introduces yourself. In addition, please include a transcript and two letters of recommendation.

Due in Mr. Knebel’s office by May 15, 2026.

2 of our Pomeroy High School Band students travelled to Central Washington University on Friday April 24th to compete in the WMEA/WIAA State Solo/Ensemble Championships. Our Pomeroy Flute/Mallet Duet consisting of freshman Heather Davis and Kiara Marquez gave a fantastic performance and received a Division II - Excellent rating. Go Pirates!

Results from the Western Nationals Competition.
There were 262 representing schools and 2347 Archers that competed at this event.
There were 420 High School girls that competed.
Heather shot a 285 placing her at 27th place. She just missed the mark by 2 points to move on to the championship.
Haven shot a 266 placing her 180th. Scores were all close and not much separated them from the top score of the weekend which was a 296.

There were 493 Middle School Boys that competed.
Josh shot a 247 and placed him 323rd.
There was just as tough competition in this division as well.
Top score for Middle School was a 294 for the weekend.
Our archers did great and represented Pomeroy well!!!
