Pomerene Middle School Science and Social Studies Page This is the official home page for Mr. Edington's Math and Science classes. Homework will be listed as well as accomplishments in the class by students.

I am very excited to serve as your child’s Science and Social Studies teacher for the 2017-2018 year. In the weeks and months to come I hope we will have the opportunity to meet in person via our Open House and conferences to discuss your child’s progress. This Face book page is a way for me to communicate some of the things that we are going to be doing this year, as well as a place to list home

work assignments. I will list our weekly objectives for each week as well. If at any time during the coming months you have questions or concerns about your child’s progress, I invite you to contact me at [email protected] so that we may make an appointment to speak. I am at the school between 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM. I very much look forward to working with you to ensure that this school year is a rewarding and productive one for all of us.

We are learning about heredity and predicting traits using the Genotypes from each parent. Please discuss with your child some of the family traits that you passed on to you child.

Hi, I would like to welcome everyone to the Pomerene Middle School Science and Social Studies Page. I am so excited to be teaching this year and have the opportunity explore with the students two of the most interesting disciplines that there is to learn about (of course I am biased to these subjects) Science and Social Studies. From the Scientific Method to the way our government works there are many avenues that we will explore this year. It will be a great year and I hope to share my love of life and of the world around us.

The next two weeks are important ones for state testing. Both the Math and Reading test will be given. This week the first part of the Math and Reading test will be given on Thursday, while next Tuesday is slated for the second part of the test. Please make sure everyone is getting enough sleep and that the eat a good breakfast on the days. Thanks and good luck.

We are reviewing for Aims 8th Science test. We took were on study island taking an informal class quiz on Newton's Laws of Motion. It is a good way to evaluation the student's knowledge and determine what the students knew and what they needed to review. It was fun.

Tomorrow Thursday 3/1/2018 the middle school teachers will be holding a Teacher parent conference to discuss students with the parents. If you would like to attend we will be available in Mr. Unger's room from 1:00 to 5:00. Thanks

This week we are learning to identify different types of rocks and minerals. It is interesting to hear some of the stories of the students of some of the things that they have found with their families. It is also amazing to hear of some of the students talk about their parent's collections, as well as some of their own collections.

The final draft for the student's short stories are due Friday.

All of the students are writing a short story based on the American Revolution. Each week students have a specific task that help them write the story. Students first began by writing a one page setting describing the stories location in detail. The next week student focused on character development. This week students will be focusing on mapping their short story using a graphic organizer. Each student should have a copy of this organizer that they can use or they may find their own if it is more appropriate for their story. This graphic organizer will be due this Friday (1-26-2018).

Please refer to the due dates for the Science fair project. The Boards are due on Wednesday December 13th, But students may request a few more days to work on it (Friday). Monday we have several Judges coming in so it is important that everything is done this week.
