🐯 The Tiger Times is Here! 💙💛

Our first monthly PGE newsletter, The Tiger Times, is ready! This first edition is packed with important information to help you and your child have a successful school year.

We encourage all of our families to take a few minutes to review each page carefully. There is quite a bit of information in this first edition, but we hope it will be a helpful resource as we work together to support our Tigers throughout the year.

Interim Reports & Parent Portal: The School District of Newberry County is transitioning away from printed interim reports. Parents and guardians may monitor their child’s academic progress throughout the grading period through Parent Portal, which provides real-time access to grades and attendance. The first nine weeks ends October 8, at which time Quarter 1 grades will be stored. Families who need assistance setting up or accessing a Parent Portal account may contact their child’s school. Printed report cards for elementary students will continue to be sent home every quarter. A printed copy of middle and high school report cards can be requested by reaching out to your child's school.

🐾 Paws & Applause 👏🏻

Yesterday we had our first Paws and Applause! This was such a special time as we were able to share some amazing things happening around our school!

Student of the Month ☀️
Each homeroom teacher selected one student who truly stands out as they demonstrate what it means to be respectful, accountable, and connected. These students are leading by example through their choices, actions, and the way they treat others!

Celebrating Positive Behavior 🎉
We also recognized four students who received our first four Positive Behavior Referrals of the month!! These kiddos were celebrated for making great choices and demonstrating the positive behaviors we like to see throughout our school!

We are so proud of all these students for showing what it means it means to Learn Today to Lead Tomorrow! 💙

Parents, please take a moment to review these important assessment windows for the 2026–2027 school year. 📝

As each window approaches, we will provide families with more specific testing dates and times. Once those dates are shared, please save them and avoid scheduling appointments or planned absences during testing. 🗓️

Students will not necessarily test every day within the windows shown. These windows allow time for scheduling, small group testing, and make-up sessions.

Coming SOON! The MUSC Vaccination Van for Pre-Kindergarten through 6th-grade students.

If you are planning for your child to receive the vaccinations through the Vaccination Van, you must complete the required patient consent forms in advance.

The link/QR code on the flyer may be difficult to access, so I am providing the direct website below:

Once you are on the website, please locate the Newberry County event and click on each of the four links to complete all four patient forms.

Important Dates
• August 20: Mid-Carolina Middle School, 9:00 AM–12:00 PM and Newberry High School, 12:30 PM-2:30 PM
• August 21: Whitmire Community School, 9:00 AM–12:00 PM
• Deadline for compliance: August 21
Please remember that our school nurses are allowing a grace period through August 21. Beginning August 24, students who have not met the immunization requirement and have already used their one-time 30-day exemption must be excluded from school until the required vaccination or appropriate documentation is provided.

If your child has already received their vaccinations, you do not need to use the Vaccination Van. Please send a copy of the updated immunization record to the Nurse at their school as soon as possible.

We want our students in school, in class, and learning, so please take care of the vaccination or provide the required documentation before the deadline to avoid an interruption in attendance.

We are excited to share information about our upcoming District Literacy Night on Thursday, September 10th at Newberry Elementary School from 5:00-7:00. More details are in the flyer! 🙂

Please note: The registration form will close on Tuesday, September 8, so please complete the form before the deadline.
