Thirteen years ago we lost one of the greatest musicians to grace this world. Not only a phenomenal guitarist and composer, but one who graciously and seamlessly blended different styles, sounds, and textures. His work on the fretboard was dangerously close to the speed of light, the ferocity of atomic fission, the spectroscopy-level precision, yet so soulful, so deep one could not stop wondering how profoundly his tune can touch your soul.

Rest easy brother - "there's many who tried to prove that they're faster but they died as they tried".... many were more famous, many made more money, more headlines, more flashy TV shows & interviews; some were even faster, some more technical, but none was equal.
Gary Moore - a musician's musician, a guitarist's guitarist, and a bluesman's bluesman. He was touched and blessed by the hand of the Healer - Peter Green.

Happy New Year, all!
On Jan 1st, 1982, "Corridors of Power", ostensibly Gary Moore's greatest album - and that's a mouthful, considering he has at least 15 albums that easily qualify not only for HIS top 10, but among the very best and finest albums overall!
This album continues the shift to heavier rock/metal from his previous releases that focused on fusion, fusion-y and bluesy rock albums. It features some of his most ferocious, fast, and technical work - yet the soul never lacks/. Gary was a true genius who, despite his phenomenal speed and technique never forsook the soul and emotion. You can hear this on practically all the tracks in this album, but especially on "I'm Always Gonna Love You" and "Don't Take Me For A Loser".
Really every song on the album is a gem, especially the incredible cover of "Wishing Well", and the iconic "I can't Wait Until Tomorrow" which became a soul-wrenching live staple with two solos that could melt the coldest of hearts.
Rest In Peace, Gary, and keep powering those corridors!

An interesting observation is that (at least in my opinion) the album cover is not only genius, but in a bitterly ironic way symbolized Gary's life - he totally lived the guitar through and through, and created some incredible magic with it, he was also its prisoner,,,
