My name is Ashley and I am the Exhibitions Coordinator at Umpqua Valley Arts. I am writing because we have an exhibitions opportunity for artists residing in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho that is still open and accepting submissions. We're hoping for a wide selection of works for the jury to review for this exhibition, so we wanted to share the call with galleries, organizations, and collectives in the area to share with as many artists as possible.

Malleable is a juried exhibit featuring soft sculpture, a term that refers to three-dimensional works made from flexible materials such as cloth, foam, rubber, fiber, and more. These sculptures often challenge the traditional notions of sculpture, which are made from harder materials compared to softer ones that often droop, sag, and drape and evoke different notions that their more permanent counterparts do not.

In this exhibition, we're open to media and modes of making that use, emphasize, or focus on soft materials. Both traditional and contemporary modes of making are welcome. Subject matter may vary, but the focus will be on the use of soft materials in the ex*****on which can include (but is not limited to) cloth, foam, rubber, plastic, fiber, paper, wax, sand, and other similar materials.

Included with this email is a graphic for the call, and I'll include some links below for more information:
Browser friendly e-blast for easy sharing: https://myemail.constantcontact.com/Call-to-Artists.html?soid=1102126245607&aid=jhSdFoiJ_pE
Call for Entry Link: https://artist.callforentry.org/festivals_unique_info.php?ID=16119

If it's possible to share this opportunity with your artist network, we greatly appreciate it! We want to ensure that all artists from working with soft materials get a chance to submit to this great exhibition opportunity.

If you or any participating artists have any questions, they'll find contact information in the links provided, or they can reach out to me directly at: [email protected].

Thank you in advance for any support on this!

Best,

Artwalk exhibition/sale opportunity!

From Jackie- [email protected]

My husband and I own Barricade, the arcade bar on E Center St. We are looking for artists to host during Art Walk on the first Friday of each month. In the past, we have hosted Chris Pickett, among others.
We are hoping you might have some students or faculty who would be interested in showing/selling their art at Barricade during art walk. Barricade is a bar, so there are specific laws around hosting artists between 18-20 years old, which we can discuss further if it is relevant to any interested artists.
Artists over 21 are offered a beverage on the house, and it's a great opportunity to network and have their work seen.
If you have anyone interested or could spread the word, we would appreciate it!
Thanks,
Jackie

We invite you to a Film Screening on Wednesday, October 29, 5–6:30 PM at the Bengal Theater in the Pond Student Union.
The featured film, AGATHA, is an experimental horror story that blends the ordinary with the shocking. Darkly stylized like a storybook, it follows a terminally ill professor who is drawn into his mysterious neighbor’s world, leading him on a haunting journey through a decaying urban wasteland.
