We recognize that you and your learners get frustrated during preferential schedule change time. But, the reality is as our population continues to increase....we haven't gotten new spaces or teachers to put students. Priority MUST be given to incoming students (yep we are getting more), students with holes in their schedule, and seniors for grad requirements. In addition, we handle several significant crisis issues daily, and if it is the difference between keeping a student alive, safe, and in school and a preference change the schedule change simply loses priority. Next week we will be doing ESSENTIAL schedule changes only ie correcting misplacements (don't have pre reqs), filling holes in schedules, and making sure seniors have grad requirements. As department chair, I apologize if this comes across as uncaring about your student. We do NOT wish them to be unhappy, but we simply don't feel it is in the best interest of learners nor teachers to overload classes. We need to keep the teachers sane too so they can give their best selves. Mrs. Baker
