Philosophy Statement: At Stepping Stones Preschool and Childcare Center we value learning through play in child centered environments. We believe young children learn best when their individual needs are being met starting with the most basic needs first. A child can not focus on learning if he or she is hungry, tired, cold or does not feel secure and safe. Our caregivers will establish a loving r
elationship with each child that reinforces the child’s self-esteem and worth. At Stepping Stones we spend time with each child to let them know that they are being seen and what they do and say is important and has value. Our teachers create an environment that is warm, welcoming and invites children to explore, create and indulge their curiosity. The children will be engaged in activities that support all aspects of development in a hands on, play- based curriculum. We will explore science, math, literacy, art, dramatic play, and physical activity everyday in a way that facilitates creativity and individual expression incorporating different cultures into our learning. Each day will definitely include the squishing of play dough, painting and creating, singing songs, reading stories, climbing, playing in the sand and water, playing dress up and scientific discovery. The teachers will facilitate an engaging, creative environment that inspires a love of learning. Our focus is on each individual child and not the curriculum. We also value and understand the importance of family and will work together with parents to focus on the child’s development during these important early years. Stepping Stones Preschool and Childcare Center is a place where children can just be children.
