Learning about life cycle of a butterfly is fascinating every year! The children experienced first hand how a butterfly eats nectar, by pretending to suck nectar from a flower as a butterfly does. Then of course the butterfly release day, when the butterflies are taken from the net and freed!

Our field trip to Gale Woods farm was an incredible hands-on learning experience for our preschoolers. They learned about the different farm animals and were able to go inside their pens and touch most of the animals. We explored a garden and sampled some fresh vegetables. Of course riding the bus was a highlight!

We hosted an engaging STEM night. The families were encouraged to use Legos for literacy, math and building vehicles. In the magnet room they were building fairy houses, racing cars, and playing games with magnets. We had a building room where children built paper airplanes, bridges, and cup towers. So much learning happens through hands-on play!

We had so much fun celebrating the Winter Olympics! We had an Olympic torch holder, USA flags along with the chants U-S-A while we played hockey with pool noodles and a beach ball, did figure skating with paper plates, and a tobagon run with laundry baskets. The winning teams received medals and we played the national anthem. We ended the week with everyone making their own Olympic medal!

A few weeks back we studied animals that hibernate during the winter. We had our very own caves to pretend we were bears and any other animal that would hibernate. Our science focus encouraged the children to make bear caves where then we practiced prepositional words like, "put your bear beside the cave, on top of the cave, and inside the cave."
