Each week at Spiritus Sanctus Academy, our students practice a specific virtue as part of their Catholic education and character formation. This week, we’re practicing Obedience!

Obedience means assenting to rightful authority without hesitation or resistance. What does obedience look like in everyday life?

⛪ Going to Sunday Mass willingly, recognizing the gift of Jesus’ presence in the Eucharist

📚 Completing homework faithfully and thoroughly

🏫 Following classroom and school rules

👨‍👩‍👧 Listening to parents and responding without hesitation or complaint

😊 Doing what is asked promptly, joyfully, and completely

Obedience isn’t simply doing what we’re told. It also means doing our duties with a willing and joyful heart.

Obedience sounds like:

💬 “I finished what I was asked to do.”

🙏Let’s pray:

Dear Jesus, You are God, and yet You were obedient to Mary and Joseph. Help me to do all that my parents and teachers ask of me—promptly, joyfully, and completely. Amen.

May our students grow in obedience by following the example of Jesus and Mary and learning to joyfully follow God’s will.

A beautiful day for PE!

Our students took advantage of the beautiful weather and enjoyed some time on the field playing soccer! There’s plenty of fun to be had during PE, but physical education at Spiritus Sanctus Academy is about more than just exercise.

Physical education is an integral part of our philosophy of educating and developing the whole person. We believe the human body is a gift from God and, as St. Paul reminds us, a temple of the Holy Spirit. Through play, movement, and sport, our students learn to care for their bodies, work together, practice good sportsmanship, and give glory to God through the gifts He has given them.

A little sunshine and soccer make for a pretty great PE class! ☀️⚽️

Language is a student’s most important tool. At Spiritus Sanctus Academy, our English language curriculum gives students a strong foundation for thought, speech, and communication. Students also have the opportunity to study Spanish and Latin, broadening their understanding of language and culture. Through a rich and systematic approach, students:

📚 Receive sequential, systematic phonics and reading instruction

📚 Experience read-alouds of classic books and poetry

📚 Develop strong penmanship in both print and cursive

📚 Receive systematic instruction in grammar and spelling

📚 Read a wide variety of literature and poetry

📚 Develop the listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills needed to communicate well and grow as human beings made for communion with others.

Last week, we celebrated our annual Mass of the Holy Spirit to invoke blessings upon the 2026-27 school year! Our faculty and staff made a profession of faith and took the oath of fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. Afterward, Fr. Stanley gave them a special blessing. What a gift to have such a faith-filled staff who are wholeheartedly dedicated to forming SAINTS!

Yesterday was beautiful day for our middle schoolers to take a break from their studies to enjoy the beautiful outdoors while growing in friendship and solidarity with one another, as they kayaked and canoed on the Huron River! 🚣

More exciting alumni news! Congratulations to Bridget Fidkowski who was also named a National Merit Semifinalist! So proud of our SSA Saints!

Pursuing Excellence! 👏

Four FGR students were named semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program! These four are among 535 students in Michigan and 16,000 nationwide to earn the distinction out of 1.3 million students who entered the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Semifinalists represent less than 1% of high school seniors in the United States and will have the opportunity to compete for 6,930 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million.

Each week at Spiritus Sanctus Academy, we focus on a specific virtue that helps our students grow in holiness and become more faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.

This week, we’re practicing Orderliness—keeping ourselves, our workspaces, and our belongings clean, neat, and in good order.

What does that look like at school?

📚Keeping a desk or locker neat

📚Using folders and binders to organize papers

📚Taking care when putting things away

It may seem like a small thing, but even the smallest acts can give glory to God. When we bring order to our surroundings, we practice being good stewards of the gifts God has entrusted to us—and open our hearts to greater peace and attentiveness.

🙏Let’s pray:

Dear Jesus, help me today to give glory to you by keeping my things neat. I’m often rushed when I put things away and I don’t put them away properly. Help me to order my life so I don’t lose papers and assignments. When I organize my belongings, I know I open my heart to your peace. May I glorify you today! Amen.

Proud moment for our school family! Congratulations to Jeffery LaFramboise who was named a National Merit Semifinalist!

Congratulations to our National Merit Semifinalists!

We are incredibly proud to recognize five outstanding members of the Class of 2027 for their exceptional performance on the PSAT/NMSQT last fall. With five semifinalists, U of D Jesuit has the largest number of National Merit Semifinalists of any Catholic high school in Michigan.

The following U of D Jesuit students scored in the top 1% of 16,000 high school seniors across the country, placing them among the highest scoring in the country:

Congratulations, Cubs!

Through our American Folk Dance, our 7th and 8th graders from both campuses experienced the joy of movement, teamwork, and community. They also discovered how shared experiences bring people together.

In his recent Encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, Pope Leo XIV reminds us that we are "created for relationship" and called to live in communion with others. In a world often focused on individual achievement and technology, folk dancing invites students to look up, connect, cooperate, and celebrate the gift of being authentically human.
