Who are we?
CFCE is so much more than story times and playgroups! (Bet you didn't know that!)
We are a vital connection point between families, schools, early education programs, community resources, and the state... working together to support children and caregivers from the very beginning and funded by the EEC.
Through engaging family programs, school readiness support, parent education, developmental resources, community partnerships, and family advocacy, we help empower caregivers as their child’s first and most important teacher.
Our programs are designed to create meaningful opportunities for families to learn, connect, grow, and build strong foundations together.
We are here to support, guide, and strengthen families while helping build healthier, more connected communities.
Strong families. Strong communities. Brighter futures.

This Earth Day, we’re celebrating the power of nature in shaping healthy, happy children. Through Governor Maura Healey’s Inter-Agency Early Education and Child Care Task Force, the Massachusetts Office of Outdoor Recreation (MOOR) and the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) recently introduced Outdoor Start — a resource hub designed to help families and early education programs spend more time in nature.
Research shows that outdoor play supports young children’s physical and mental health, builds social skills, encourages personal growth, and fosters a lifelong connection to the environment. 🌎💚

🚨 We’re hiring! The Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) is seeking a dynamic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our Executive Leadership Team. Reporting directly to the Commissioner, the COO will drive collaboration across divisions, align internal operations with agency priorities, and lead implementation of EEC’s strategic action plan while overseeing key areas including Fiscal, Internal Operations, Product Management, Program Integrity & Internal Controls, and Background Record Checks (BRC).
This is a unique opportunity for an operationally-minded leader to shape strategy, strengthen cross-agency coordination, and ensure effective fiscal management in support of EEC’s mission.
