Today the Cooper Marching Band came to perform for PLE. We got to hear a few of their parade songs, learn the instrument names, and watch the color guard.

Before they left the band came into the audience and shared their instruments up close with our students.

Did you know that Question #2 builds directly on Question #1 and was part of the overall plan the community envisioned through Reimagine Rdale: Vision 2030 conversations? This question continues to provide one unified high school, Plymouth Middle School moves to the Armstrong site, and RSI moves to the Plymouth Middle School site. This question helps us focus on the performing arts for our middle school students.

Further cost savings are gained by the district discontinuing its leased spaces. The district will also sell unused properties. It is important to note that the revenue from the sale of properties can only be used for capital projects. Using this money to address ongoing maintenance needs ultimately allows us to keep more dollars in the operating budget for programming, students, and staff.

Last week students in Ms. Kelleher’s class worked together to save Fred the worm using paper clips . Fred (gummy worm) is stuck on a capsized boat (cup) and his lifejacket (life saver) is under the boat. Students have to problem solve how to flip the boat, get the lifejacket on Fred, and get him back in the boat.

But there’s a catch. Students can touch the boat and the paper clips with their hands, but they can ONLY touch Fred and the life preserver with the paper clips. If Fred touches the table you have to start over.

The productive struggle was real and cooperation and engagement was high!

📣 All members of the community are invited to attend the community presentation at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the School of Engineering and Arts to learn more about the Building Better Together bond referendum and get your questions answered.

Did you know that Question #1 is in direct response to last year's community conversations and Reimagine Rdale: 2030 recommendations? This question is the first step in right sizing the school district with one comprehensive high school on the Cooper High School and New Hope Learning Center site.

It will provide modern learning spaces that are designed to support the demands of active, hands-on learning. It will allow the district to improve career pathways programming that is not currently offered in our high schools, ensuring every graduate is college, career, and future-ready. Our students could graduate with valuable certifications in the trades that lead to high-paying jobs.
