Jack Schabert from our Opus Music Academy team is an extraordinary young man who is the founder of the Blue Ox Jazz Group, Blue Ox Jazz Orchestra, and now the director of The MetroNOME Jazz Youth Orchestra. He recently graduated from St Olaf College, a highly reputable school for their music program. Jack's primary instruments are drums (set and orchestral percussion), and piano.

I am proud, as president of the school, and on behalf of Opus, to support Jack in all his ambitious efforts to grow in his career in music. Message us with any questions.

The MetroNOME Youth Jazz Orchestra is having its very first one-week program this summer, led by drummer, bandleader and composer, Jack Schabert! Join us for a week of great music making and learning, and finish it off with a concert held in Fingal’s Cave at metroNOME.

The program runs from July 22-27th. Rehearsals from 10am-noon, Monday through Friday in Fingal’s Cave at MetroNOME brewery in Lowertown St. Paul, and a concert there on Saturday July 27th at 3pm. The camp is open to 8th grade through college age jazz players. More advanced students are invited to participate on a non-primary instrument if they like.
