Plymouth-Canton Community Schools

Plymouth-Canton Community Schools P-CCS operates 14 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, 3 high schools and an alternative high school. Students are randomly assigned to our three high schools.

Plymouth-Canton Community Schools operates 15 elementary schools, five middle schools, three high schools and an alternative high school program. District maps show the geographic attendance areas for each elementary and middle school. To additionally support our community, the district provides extensive preschool programming as well as before-school and after-school child care and summer care programs for elementary and middle school students. Over 3,000 full-time and part-time employees work to provide our students with the educational opportunities they need to become productive citizens in a global community. Parent involvement is a key factor in the success of our students and our schools. District policy 2112 summarizes the importance of two-way communication between home and school and describes the responsibilities of the school and the parents in this process. The district plan titled “Parent Involvement in the School Program” will be printed each year in the August edition of Newsline. All P-CCS elementary teachers meet the federal requirements for highly qualified teachers. Parents have a right to know the qualifications of the teachers of their children and may contact their school to get this information.

Orsa Credit Union Fuels P-CCS Staff Welcome Back Event!

This year’s P-CCS Staff Welcome Back event for all faculty and staff was especially exciting, thanks to the district’s partnership with orsa credit union. All staff who attended were entered into a raffle for free gasoline for a year provided by orsa. Congratulations to Melanie Matthews-Calhoun and Eric Provins, who each won free gas for a year — a $5,500 cash award! We’re also excited to celebrate 10 more P-CCS educators who each won a $50 gas card! Congratulations to: Amy Remski, Sandra Muysenberg, Laurie Lee, Laura Lawson, Sara Welton, Jamie Dazio, Kevin Learned, Jan Eggers, Bryan Boyd, and Justin Allen.

The Board of Education was proud to recognize the Pioneer Middle School Esports Team for an incredible showing at the 2026 Michigan High School Esports League State Championships!

Miller Elementary School recently welcomed its new teachers with a special breakfast and a tour of their classrooms!

Honoring the Life and Legacy of Chuck Portelli

Before last night’s Board of Education meeting, the Plymouth Canton Education Association (PCEA) gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of former PCEA President Charles “Chuck” Portelli.

In Chuck’s honor, PCEA purchased a memorial bench that has been placed outside the School Board Office, surrounded by gardens he helped plant and care for during the nearly 20 years he served as Union President.

The bench and gardens offer a lasting place to remember Chuck and the many ways he contributed to the P-CCS community.

We are grateful for his years of service, leadership and dedication to the staff and students of P-CCS.

Isbister Elementary kicked off the school year with our Back to School Bike Night, partnering with the Plymouth Township Police Department for a police-escorted bike parade to McClumpha Park and back!

A huge thank you to our School Resource Officer Andy Mendrzycki for coordinating this special event, and to the Plymouth Township Police Department, Plymouth Township Fire Department, and patrol officers who helped keep our riders safe along the route.

🎉 Welcome to P-CCS, Kevin Knierim!

Plymouth-Canton Community Schools is pleased to welcome Kevin Knierim as the new Assistant Principal at Plymouth High School!

Kevin brings more than 25 years of experience in education, including administrative leadership, teaching, coaching and school leadership. Since 2015, he has served as an Assistant Principal at Annapolis High School in Dearborn Heights, where he has supported student success, school safety, staff development, instructional programs and strong partnerships with families and the community.

Kevin earned his Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education and Master of Arts in Administration/Educational Leadership from Central Michigan University.

Throughout his career, Kevin has demonstrated a strong commitment to students, athletics, positive school culture and continuous school improvement.

Senior Weekend Rewind!

What a marathon weekend for our senior members! Between performing at our first home game on Friday night, tackling a full day of rehearsal on Saturday, celebrating years of memories and friendships at the Senior Dinner, and giving back by volunteering at the Plymouth Rotary Chicken Dinner on Sunday—these seniors did it all! 🎺✨🎓

Welcome to P-CCS, Kristy Kenneally!

Plymouth-Canton Community Schools is pleased to welcome Kristy Kenneally as our new Supervisor of Special Education!

Kristy brings more than 26 years of experience supporting students with disabilities across elementary, secondary, center-based and transition programs. Her extensive experience includes special education leadership, 504 coordination, teaching and program administration.

Most recently, Kristy served as Director of Lamphere Center, leading a county-approved, center-based special education program supporting students with significant cognitive, behavioral and communication needs. Previously, she served as Special Education Supervisor and 504 Coordinator for Lamphere Schools.

Before moving into administration, Kristy spent nearly two decades as a Resource Room Teacher with Northville Public Schools, collaborating with students, families, teachers and school teams to provide specially designed instruction.

Kristy holds an Educational Specialist Degree in Special Education Administration from Eastern Michigan University, a Master of Arts in Reading and Language Arts from Oakland University and a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education from Michigan State University.
