THIS LADY!!!! My oldest daughter is a doctor, a veterinarian (yes, both) who has worked her ass off every single day! Living in London now, she is one of the most amazing people I know. She cares in so many ways, for her family and animals. She's a vet for the Iditarod, she's climbed Mt Kilimanjaro, ran marathons, she's thoughful & kind!

I have had 4 children, all so different, every one accomplished. You never know where your children will go.

Care for them, love them, and always be there for them, even when they are in their 40s. Great things can happen when children are respected and supported.

I STOPPED TO PHOTOGRAPH THIS GREAT BLUE HERON TODAY AND IT REMINDED ME THAT
🪶 Sometimes communication doesn't come in words.

This great blue heron stands quietly, patiently, and purposefully—watching, waiting, and responding to the world in its own way.

As someone who has spent more than 45 years supporting neurodivergent individuals, I've learned that communication is much the same. Not everyone speaks with words. Some communicate through movement, behavior, art, silence, gestures, or simply being present.

At AutismColorClub, we believe in looking beyond what is said and paying attention to what is being communicated.

The heron reminds me that there is wisdom in slowing down, observing carefully, and respecting different ways of connecting with the world.
💚 Every mind has a voice.
💚 Every person deserves to be understood.
💚 Communication takes many forms.
What do you notice when you slow down enough to really observe?

AutismColorClub books are coloring and activity books designed to help neurodivergent children, teens, and adults build everyday skills in a fun, low-stress way.

They’re created by Dr. Valarie Whiting — a psychologist, autism specialist, and neurodivergent grandmother — who combined professional strategies with simple activities that anyone can use at home.

These books aren’t “just coloring.”
They’re tools that help with things like:

Focusing attention

Reducing anxiety or overwhelm

Building fine-motor skills

Learning routines and social skills

Creating calm moments when the world feels loud

They’re also great for grandparents, parents, caregivers, and educators, because the activities make it easy to connect, talk, and practice skills together — without feeling like it’s “work.”

In short:

👉 AutismColorClub books use creative activities to build real-life skills, support emotional regulation, and strengthen connection — for neurodivergent people and for anyone who finds coloring calming.

Those of us with different minds, different thoughts, different ways continue to reach for connection.

My son and I… we’ve had our struggles.
Moments of misunderstanding.
Moments where emotions were bigger than words.
Moments where we both felt unheard in different ways.
But through it all, we kept reaching back toward one another.

That’s part of why I created autismcolorclub.com books and resources.

Not because families are perfect… but because connection matters even when communication is hard.
Sometimes connection looks like conversation.
Sometimes it looks like sitting quietly together coloring a page.

Sometimes it looks like trying again tomorrow.
Different minds do not mean less love.
Different ways of thinking do not mean less need for belonging.

We all want to feel seen.
We all want to feel safe.
We all want to know someone is still reaching back for us. 💚

Grandparents… this one’s for you 💛

Sometimes the hardest part of helping a grandchild isn’t love—
it’s knowing what actually works.
A simple visual schedule can change everything.

It helps your grandchild: ✨ Know what’s coming next
✨ Feel calmer and more in control
✨ Build independence—step by step

And for you?
It turns everyday moments into smoother, more connected time together.
No pressure. No overwhelm.
Just clear, gentle support.

Because when children feel safe and understood…
they thrive.
👉 Save this and follow along—I'll walk you through how to create one that truly works.

A rule change pushed by White House officials would slash benefits or end support for as many as 400,000 Supplemental Security Income recipients with Down syndrome, dementia and other disabilities whose parents or relatives receive SNAP benefits.

The administration is working on a rule change that would deduct the value of a disabled adult’s bedroom from their SSI allotment, even if the family members they live with are poor enough to qualify for food stamps. This would mean slashing the benefits of some of the most low-income SSI recipients by up to a third or ending their support altogether.
