🔥🐠 Talk about a fish that knows how to stand out!

🐢 How to identify a Hawksbill Sea Turtle 🌊

Next time you see a sea turtle on a dive, look for these clues:

🔎 Pointed, hawk-like beak — that’s where the hawksbill gets its name!

🐢 Overlapping shell plates — the scutes overlap almost like shingles on a roof.

〰️ Jagged shell edge — especially noticeable toward the back of the shell.

👀 Four scales between the eyes — hawksbills have two pairs of prefrontal scales.

🎨 Beautiful patterned shell — often a mix of brown, amber, yellow, orange and darker markings.

Bonus fact: Hawksbills use their narrow, sharp beaks to reach into cracks and crevices in coral reefs for food. Sea sponges are one of their preferred foods in many areas! 🧽
