Subjects and Pricing:

I tutor students in grades 6-12, undergrad, and MBA programs. I mainly tutor in math and economics classes. For a complete list of subjects please visit my website! sites.google.com/arete-tutoring.com/aretetutoring

Pricing is as follows:
-6th-12th grade: $35/hr
-Undergrad: $50/hr
-MBA: $60/hr

I base my pricing on how much prep time I need per session.

-Each session is one-on-one. I believe each student deserves their own time with a professional that will cater to their specific needs.
-I take the time to thoroughly review each student’s class material, complete all homework assignments beforehand, and preemptively think of what questions the student will have.
-I provide test-taking and organization advice that’s tailored to each student.

My story:

While in college, I was a volunteer tutor and teacher at the local high school and middle school. I greatly enjoyed helping students learn and master material that previously confused them. As a teacher, I sparked curiosity in my students about subjects they had never thought about before and showed them how to look at situations from different perspectives.

Sometime after graduation, I became a sixth-grade math teacher at a classical charter school in San Antonio, Texas. I loved every lesson I taught. My students were engaging, curious, and eager to learn about math and its importance. I loved helping them discover new knowledge and patterns about our world. As fellow teachers may know, my class sizes were large, and there were so many students I wanted to help and tutor. They had the potential and the drive and just needed some extra help. Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough time in the day to accommodate all of them. I spent hours after school tutoring the students who needed the most help. In the end, I had a family emergency, which led me to leave my job as a teacher.

I immediately became a tutor for a large online tutoring company because I still wanted to help students learn and achieve their goals. It was so rewarding to see my students who were struggling in their classes begin to enjoy the subjects. I saw them grow from Ds and Es to Bs and As. I found out that the company I worked for charged my students 7x as much as they paid me. I could privately provide a higher quality and more personalized tutoring experience at a more affordable price than the large online platforms. And voila, I decided to start Arete Tutoring!

Hello there, and welcome to Arete Tutoring! My name is Lianna, and I started this business to help students learn easier, achieve their academic goals, and make subjects exciting and applicable. As a former teacher and now tutor, I know many students just need extra guidance and tailored support to reach their full potential.

In our initial call, we'll discuss where you're currently in your classes, where you want to be, and your learning style. I've found that most students struggle with a subject because it's not taught in their learning style. For example, do you prefer to see diagrams? Pictures? Steps? Colors? Do you learn best with analogies or stories? If you don't know, that's ok! We will find your learning style together.

Let's do this!😄
