Next week, we’ll welcome back two-time Lakeland graduate Megan (Stock) Pickell ’08, MBA ’10, who will serve as the featured speaker as we officially open the 2026-27 academic year with Opening Convocation.

Pickell, a former women’s soccer player and marketing graduate assistant, now serves as director of strategic initiatives at AbbVie. She says the relationships and experiences she gained at Lakeland continue to influence her personal and professional life.

She’ll share her perspective with students as they begin a new academic year.

Opening Convocation is Thursday, Sept. 3, at 11 a.m. in the Bradley Theatre.

Our student support staff are here year-round to help students navigate college, answer questions, solve problems and make connections. They’re often among the first faces students and families meet — and they remain a familiar resource throughout the college experience, playing an essential role in student success.

We are excited to kick off a historic year for our Life & Career Studies (LCS) program with 22 incredible students, including 8 new students joining our community!

This year marks several exciting milestones: Our first year with students from all four class levels, Freshman through Senior, on campus. 7 students are enrolled in our Degree+ LCS program, while 15 students are pursuing our certificate program. And perhaps most exciting of all, we will celebrate our first graduating class this May!

We are so proud of how our program has grown and look forward to a year filled with learning, independence, career exploration, friendships and new opportunities.

Please join us in welcoming our newest students and cheering on all of our LCS students as they begin another amazing year!

Lakeland University is expanding its longstanding partnership with Lakeshore College with a new permanent presence at Lakeshore’s Cleveland campus.

Join us for a community open house on Thursday, Sept. 10, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. A ribbon-cutting ceremony with Lakeland President Dr. Beth Borgen and Lakeshore President Dr. Paul Carlsen will take place at 11 a.m.

The new location will give Lakeshore students even more support as they pursue a bachelor’s degree—from transfer planning and financial aid to admissions and academic advising.

And students have options. Take daytime classes at Lakeland’s main campus, just 15 minutes away, or choose evening, online or hybrid programs that fit your schedule.

From affordable veterinary services to a pet food pantry and temporary housing during emergencies, HAWS is helping pets stay with the people who love them.
