I had such fun this summer speaking with children of all ages about the life cycle of mosquitoes. These five and six year-olds were fascinated with all the stages in this one little mosquito cage!
(Those are moistened raisins on the top of the screen to feed the adults. Did you know that mosquitoes eat nectar from flowers? Only the female needs a blood meal to get the nutrition she needs to produce her eggs.)

Want your yard sprayed for mosquitoes?
Plymouth County Mosquito Control Project accepts requests for adult mosquito control from residents. This is a Plymouth County service your town has chosen.
Residents can call up to eight times per season to be sprayed, barring any spray restrictions in your area.
The spray used will kill the mosquitoes in the area at the time that we spray and it is not a preventative.
*** Residents must call, fax, mail, or deliver in person, the requests each time they are requesting spraying. We are open 7 AM to 2:30 PM
Call 781 585 5450
Fax: 781 582 1276
In person/mail: 272 South Meadow Rd (Plymouth airport)
Plymouth, MA 02360
*** Include name, address and email and the Project will email you to tell you when it will happen and another to tell you it was accomplished. (Sometimes weather, such as rain, prevents it and it will be rescheduled,)

Got mosquitoes? Want your yard sprayed?
How and when?

Pesticide applications are made via an ultra-low-volume sprayer that is on the back of a white pickup truck with the Project logo.
Typically, spraying is done from the street and the spray can travel up to 300 feet.
Weather permitting, the sprayers are operating 2 AM to ½ hour before sunrise each weekday.
(Spraying is not done when it is raining. If requesters included their email, they will receive an email stating “not completed”. No worries, it will be rescheduled.)
The website lists at 3 PM the streets to be sprayed the following morning.

1. While aerial larviciding over large swamps continues with the product Bti, a naturally occurring bacillus bacteria, that targets only mosquitoes and to a lesser extent, black flies, the important work of adding the same product into catch-basins begins!
2. You may see the Plymouth County Mosquito Control Project’s white trucks pull over and drop something into the catch-basins and wonder what they are doing. So, I wanted you to know! (See photo)
3. By the way, we could use one more person for this seasonal full-time work. Applicant needs to be at least 18 years and have a driver’s license. It pays $16.50 per hour. If interested please call the office at 781-585-5450
4. This work continues all summer.

1. Starting the 5th of April, the Plymouth County Mosquito Control Project’s airplane will begin treating the wetlands for mosquito larvae.
2. We will not be applying the larvicide over residential areas. However, the plane may pass low over houses as it makes its turns.
3. The product used is Bti, a naturally occurring bacillus bacteria, that targets only mosquitoes and a small number of their cousin the midges. It does not harm anything else.
4. All Boards of Health and Police Departments of Plymouth County will be notified.
