Literacy Program - Plymouth Public Library

Our next new student orientations will take place on Monday, October 19th at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM in the Fehlow Room at the Plymouth Public Library.

If you are looking for free classes to help you prepare to take the HISET or GED tests, we would be happy to help you with your goals!

We offer open enrollment in class between September and March.

Class Options

Day HISET/GED classes meet Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Instruction takes place 9:30 AM-12:30 PM. Extra help from your teacher is available from 9:00 AM - 9:30 AM and 12:30 PM - 1:00 PM

Night HISET/GED classes meet on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM or 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM depending on class placement after initial orientation.

Advanced ESL Skills Review* classes meet Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM or Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM. *Must be able to understand, speak, read, and write English but want to improve English for a high school diploma, college, or career.

Thank you State Rep. Michelle Badger for your continued support of the Plymouth Public Library's Adult Literacy Program! We couldn't be more proud of our students, staff, and wonderful volunteers!

One of the things I love most about Plymouth is the way our community comes together to lift each other up.

The Plymouth Public Library is a wonderful example of that. Through its adult education programs, it helps people of all ages build skills, gain confidence, and create new opportunities for themselves and their families.

From helping students earn their GED, to helping adults learn to read and communicate in English, to providing support and resources for people working toward their next chapter, this work can truly be life-changing.

That is why I am so glad to share that the Department of Education and Secondary Education awarded $377,814 to the Plymouth Public Library to support the continuation of its adult education programs.

This is what investing in our community looks like. It is neighbors helping neighbors, educators and volunteers sharing their time and knowledge, all working to help residents thrive. ❤️📚

Please join us on August 22nd between 12pm - 4pm for our 3rd annual We Remember, We Recover event! The focus of the event is to honor those lost to substance use as well as celebrate those in recovery.
Speakers begin at 1pm! They will share their stories to help promote awareness and inspire others. Many community organizations will have resource tables with information about the services they provide.
Help be a part of spreading awareness and promoting connection to resources and each other!
This is a family-friendly event that will include speakers, food, drinks, live music, and crafts.

Considering a career in American Manufacturing? South Shore Technical Institute is now accepting applications for their Fall 2026 Machining/Manufacturing course. Graduates will receive over 200 hours of shop training, industry-recognized credentials, and job search assistance through MassHire South Shore.

Interested applicants must be 18+ with the equivalent of a high school education and meet location-specific eligibility criteria.
