Tomorrow is Memorial Day. Originally called Decoration Day, Memorial Day traces its origins to the aftermath of the Civil War, when communities across the United States began holding local ceremonies to decorate the graves of fallen soldiers. The first national commemoration was held at Arlington National Cemetery on May 30, 1868. As time passed, the holiday has come to be both a solemn day of remembrance and the unofficial start of summer. Congress moved it from May 30 to the final Monday in May in 1971. As you enjoy your well deserved weekend, remember the real meaning of Memorial Day break, take time to reflect on the legacies of those military service members who fought for your rights, paving the way for the privileges we enjoy today.

Grandparent scams can have a big impact in our community. Fortunately, Law Enforcement is working hard to stop those who would harm or steal from others.

The scams are real. At our last safety seminar, we discussed many types of scams. Contact us to schedule your next free session.
🚨🚨🚨Please be advised that we’ve had reports of several people (including one of our officers!) receiving fake court summonses or parking tickets via text message. The fake documents include a QR code for the recipients to click. Please do not click on any links or QR codes on these documents. You will never receive a summons or parking ticket via text message. It is a scam that attempts to trick people into clicking the link and providing personal information.
