Do you want to know more about Orff-Schulwerk Level I course? Join us on March 8, 2023, at 4:30 (CST) in Lakeland University’s Webinar: Orff-Schulwerk at Lakeland University. During the webinar, the faculty provide an overview of the Level I Orff-Schulwerk course experience. Click below to sign up for our webinar and to receive the video recording for later viewing.

Lakeland’s Orff Schulwerk Certification program will be held July 10-21, 2023. On Over the course of these two weeks, music educators will develop their personal musicianship skills, learn to create stylistically and age-appropriate arrangements, and experience pedagogical models appropriate for the elementary and middle school classroom that emphasize improvisation and creativity. This approach stresses the importance of developing a child’s body, ear, and mind as an integrated pathway to creative expression and comprehensive musicianship.

The 2023 Summer Graduate Music Program will take place from June 26-July 7, 2023, on Lakeland University’s beautiful Main Campus in lovely Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. Both the Master of Music and Kodály Levels I-III courses will be offered. Faculty include Frank Gallo (Director of Graduate Music), Brent Gault, Stephanie Schall-Brazee, Carol Storck, Jonathan Rappaport, Rachel Grimsby, Lynne Zimmermann, and Evan Chancellor.

Three Special Topics courses will also be offered that include:

(1) Exploring Hip-Hop Music Pedagogy (Lamont Holden and Adam Kruse) – June 24-25
(2) Voice Pedagogy for the Music Educator (Rachel Ware Carlton) – six evenings during Kodály Levels
(3) 21st Century Orff Schulwerk: Making Responsive Teaching and Collaborative Learning Visible (Manju Durairaj) – July 8-9

Lakeland University’s Kodály program was previously housed at Silver Lake College that had a prominent history of pedagogical excellence, musical distinction, and exceptional research quality. Lakeland University carries this tradition forward offering elementary, secondary, and independent music teachers an opportunity to grow their own musicianship abilities, to advance their pedagogical skills, and to develop graduate level research understandings.
