What an incredible way to wrap up our summer camp season! Week 8 was filled with non-stop excitement, creativity, and laughter as we prepared for our grand finale: the Camp Carnival. All week long, our campers worked hard creating colorful backdrops, crafting fun props, and practicing their juggling skills. We were thrilled that the rain stayed away, allowing us to celebrate outdoors under bright skies and end the season on the highest note possible! Campers loved rotating through a variety of stations, including a lemonade stand, a mystical fortune teller, an obstacle course, and a festive snack stand. Watching everyone play, cheer each other on, and show off their week’s hard work was the perfect culmination of all our summer adventures. Thank you all again for making this camp season so memorable and rewarding. We hope you have a fantastic rest of your summer, and we can’t wait to see you next year!

Our "5 Senses" theme was packed with hands-on learning and indoor fun! Campers dove right into "touch" by kneading custom slime, tuned up their "listening ears" with interactive sound identification games, and explored their taste buds by identifying sweet, sour, and savory flavors.
We had lots of rain this week, but when the sun finally came out, everyone rushed outside to splash around on our fantastic water slide! It was the perfect highlight of outdoor play—giving the campers a fun way to burn off energy, practice taking turns, and enjoy the beautiful weather together.

With deep sadness, we share that PMFS' beloved longtime teacher Varley Paul passed away peacefully last evening in the presence of her immediate family.

From 1986 to 2026, an extraordinary 40 years, Varley served Plymouth Meeting Friends School with deep devotion. She taught sixth grade until 2020 and continued to serve the community after that in a variety of ways—as librarian, director of special projects, BtB director, and fifth grade teacher. Her creative spirit, quiet wisdom, and steadfast commitment to her students, families, and colleagues have left an indelible mark on countless lives and on the very fabric of our school. Known for her gentle presence and deep gratitude, Varley believed deeply that the purpose of a PMFS education was not simply to prepare students academically, but to graduate thoughtful, compassionate leaders.

Varley wrote recently that Plymouth is “one of the most authentic teaching institutions I've seen anywhere. It has the opportunity to fulfill much, if not all, of the Quaker vision. It cherishes the child as a person. It is small enough to teach to the future; to send global citizens and leaders into the world." These words also describe Varley’s work as an educator.

Beyond the classroom, Varley was a global citizen in her own right, studying and traveling widely. Varley was an accomplished poet, writer, and artist. Through her poetry and prose, Varley illuminated the wonder found in everyday moments.

We invite you to share your memories of Varley on this shared Memory Wall so that our community can celebrate her lasting impact together. Stories, anecdotes, words of gratitude, poems, photos and videos are all welcome. Follow this link: https://padlet.com/PlymouthMeetingFriends/varley_paul_remembrances

Please join us in holding Varley's spirit, Jerry, Isabel, and Gordon, and their entire family in the Light.

This week was packed with discovery, and stellar summer fun! Campers were introduced to space-themed adventures. They constructed realistic moon rocks, painted personalized planet Earths, and tested out their engineering skills with custom rocket ship launchers.Beyond our space missions, we made the most of the great outdoors! From running games on the field to cooling off with water play and slide activities, the energy outside was non-stop. Adding to the excitement, Coach Derek and Artist-in-Residence Scott returned to lead fantastic activities, making this extra-special week a true summer highlight!

From Backwards Day to Wacky Hair Wednesday, we certainly showed some serious spirit this week! The weather was gorgeous, and our campers loved spending much-needed time outdoors enjoying the sunshine and water play. We wrapped up this exciting week with our favorite traditions: a camp parade and a delicious pizza party! A huge thank you to all the campers and families who participated and brought so much energy!

No type of weather could stop our incredible camp team from creating an unforgettable experience for the children this week! While Mother Nature kept us from the water play areas and playgrounds, she couldn't touch our camp spirit. Thanks to our team's creativity and the amazing flexibility of our campers, we pivoted indoors for an unforgettable lineup of activities. Coach Derek took over the gym for high-energy games that kept everyone moving and laughing. Campers channeled their inner artists, using unconventional and recycled materials to create unique masterpieces. Friday turned into a very exciting day, with the help of our amazing Yoga instructor, Sachi, and the mesmerizing Magician Clyde, the children were treated to a morning filled with mindful movement and mind-blowing illusions.

This week, we were pleased to welcome our very first Saplings Campers this summer. They make up a very special cohort of programmers who are digging into all things coding! Campers had the opportunity to work together to create a tactile binary code necklace of their names and to build a robot from everyday materials to explore motion with motors. Campers then worked collaboratively to create a visual code for their Ozobots before turning their brains to programming the robots.

From uncovering bones in the sandpit to rescuing mini dinos from giant ice blocks, Week 2 was an absolute blast! Our little paleontologists braved the heat, shared tons of giggles playing "Pin the Tail on the Dinosaur," and wrapped it all up with some epic, fizzy volcano eruptions! 🌋

It’s been so wonderful watching sweet friendships grow as so many campers return week after week. We are looking forward to even more fun and enrichment ahead!
