Colonial School District’s Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube accounts are meant to be another source of information to the community, as well as a place for the District to engage with its stakeholders. We welcome the opportunity to hear f

rom you and encourage your participation. At the same time, we would like to remind everyone about our Rules for Engagement. We expect that people exercise civility and common sense when posting comments to our pages. Please remember that your comments can be viewed by many people in our community and are considered to be in the public domain. While the District does not want to limit the opinions or comments of its community members, certain types of comments will not be tolerated. We strongly discourage comments that:

Are vulgar or profane;
Could be offensive to or target specific ethnic or racial groups;
Incite violence;
Encourage others to break the law;
Could be considered campaigning for a political office;
Easily identify students and/or staff in defamatory, abusive or generally negative terms;
Promote services, products or non-district-sponsored events/causes through hyperlinks to external websites;
Instigate political debate or divisiveness;
Are unrelated to the original topic of the post. Comments on our social media pages may be deleted or turned off if they violate expectations. We respect and value First Amendment rights, but we also strongly believe our social media channels are places where we are obligated to uphold our mission and vision. We would not tolerate comments that fall into the categories above in school or at a School Board meeting, and we will not permit them on social media, either.
