ucational approach to address the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of children in kindergarten through eighth grade. Our faculty and staff are trained in Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), a process in which people understand and manage emotions, set and achieve goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships and make responsible decisions. Designed to increase students’ self-awareness of their emotions and foster their self-regulation by providing tools to assist them, the Martin Luther School SEL program uses various approaches to help deepen students’ ability to self-regulate. Our new Martin Luther School campus is open! 🎉

👏 👏 Martin Luther School marked an incredible milestone this week when the school year kicked off for the first time on the new MLS–Whitemarsh campus!

🏫 More than 150 faculty and staff members participated in meetings on the new campus, which has been fully renovated with bright, modern spaces designed to inspire learning, connection, and growth for years to come. 🌟

📚 They took part in trainings, reconnected with colleagues, hosted student tours, and made final preparations to welcome the full student body to the new campus for the 2026-2027 school year next week!

🎒 We can't wait to see students fill the building, bringing the classrooms and hallways to life with energy, learning, and excitement!

✨ We asked, and you answered! We are grateful!

Dozens of supporters responded to our request for donations of backpacks and school supplies for local children! Thanks to this generosity, Gemma was able to provide hundreds of full backpacks so students can begin the school year prepared and ready to learn!

These backpacks were distributed to students participating in Gemma’s Community Based Programs and living in the communities we serve, to youth in residence at Gemma, and to students attending our Martin Luther School.

Special shoutout to friends from Abington Presbyterian Church, Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, Chambers Memorial Presbyterian Church, Ellucian, Gwynedd Square Presbyterian Church, New Hanover Evangelical Lutheran Church, Newtown Square Presbyterian Church, Ridley Park Presbyterian Church - RPPC, Saint Luke Lutheran Church - Devon, PA, and St Matthew Lutheran Church, plus many other friends!

Students and staff have been visiting the new Martin Luther School – Whitemarsh campus these summer months, and excitement is building for move in!

During MLS’ Extended School Year program, students took several field trips to the new campus and participated in mini-lessons on the beautiful grounds, which included a special sneak peek at what will be their school’s home in September!

Designed to support MLS’ growing student body, the campus includes bright and modern classrooms with ample space for exceptional educational programming inside and outside the classroom.

That’s a wrap on a great summer program for Martin Luther School’s Extended School Year! Students and staff celebrated an unforgettable season of learning, growth, and fun together.

The final week was filled with smiles as students and staff alike enjoyed ice cream sundaes, cookouts, indoor and outdoor games, water play, and plenty of time to celebrate their accomplishments!

✨ We wrapped up our fourth annual Wellness Week with lots of opportunities for staff to come together across Gemma’s three locations for fun, connection, and rejuvenating activities! From enjoying treats together, to sharing moments of relaxation and laughter, it was a wonderful chance to celebrate the people who make Gemma’s mission shine every day. 💚
