Career compatibility is defined as shared values and mutual support around work, time availability, lifestyle, ambition, and income.

According to Tawkify's The Career Chemistry Report, based on a survey of 1,000 American respondents, 33% (or 1 in 3 people) said they would end a relationship because of career incompatibility.

As a matchmaker, this may be concerning. However, it's important to understand the reasoning behind this. These people are looking for steadiness, shared values, and enough time and emotional space to actually enjoy being in a relationship.

This is why the matching process is so important. By taking the time to fully understand your client, which includes looking at their lifestyle and goals, you can turn a good match on paper into a successful one in real life.

So when matching your client, don't overlook career compatibility. It may be one of the most important factors in creating a match that truly lasts. ✨

More single mothers are finding their way back into the dating scene, supported by a rise in matchmaking service sign-ups. Three Day Rule, a personalized matchmaking service, reported that the share of single mothers using the service increased from 19.8% in 2025 to 21.5% in 2026.

The company also notes the rise of “family-supported dating,” where relatives and children play an active role in encouraging and assisting mothers in dating again. Family-supported dating can be a game-changer for single mothers because it allows them to build an identity outside of parenting. It also gives mothers the mental and physical freedom to pursue romantic relationships that fulfill their emotional needs.

As more single mothers turn to matchmaking services with serious intentions. This creates an important note for matchmakers to better understand the priorities of single mothers, including emotional maturity, long-term compatibility, and family values, as well as finding partners who are comfortable with children. In some cases, after being out of the dating scene for a long time, matchmakers may also suggest that single mothers work with a dating coach to help improve readiness and confidence before entering a new relationship.
