Next time your child gets the right answer on a math problem, ask them to explain how they got there. What they say next will tell you more about their mathematical understanding than any grade they have ever brought home.
Because genuine mathematical understanding has three important parts: arriving at the correct answer, explaining the reasoning, and applying that reasoning to new problems. A child who can do all three truly owns the material, demonstrating an ability that goes beyond simply producing correct answers on a test.
This fully built understanding means a child won't freeze when the format changes or fail when a procedure is applied to something new. It's not about being a 'gifted' child, but about building a complete understanding of the 'why' behind the math, and that understanding travels with them, empowering them for future challenges 🌟

We’re highlighting our instructor Jenn from Kumon of Edison North as she shares how proud she is of her student, Ava. ⭐️💙
From starting Kumon at just four years old to now reaching the final level of the reading program, Ava’s journey is a great example of what consistency and dedication can accomplish over time. Even while traveling to Paris on vacation, Ava continued her Kumon work and stayed committed to her daily practice.
We love celebrating students like Ava who continue to show perseverance, independence, and a strong love for learning wherever they go.

At just 5 years old, Muhammad is already building strong learning habits through his Kumon journey! Through consistent daily practice, he has strengthened his reading skills, improved his focus, and gained confidence as an independent learner.
Muhammad enjoys reading, drawing, and playing outdoors with friends. Looking ahead, he hopes to become a doctor to use his skills to help others and make a positive impact in the world.
