The daytime advanced ESL class wrote essays about their goals. As part of the revision process, they’ve been learning to use connecting words and transition signals. The first photo shows students independently correcting sentences with correlative conjunctions for parallel structure. The next few photos show students creating sentences with two different correlative conjunctions on the whiteboard. Following that, Joy guided the class to edit these sentences for grammatical accuracy. The final photos show a group activity reviewing the various connecting words and transition signals they’ve learned. These lessons will culminate in students revising their essays to incorporate appropriate connecting words throughout.
