Today marked the beginning of an incredible weekend of training, competition, cultural exchange, and lifelong friendships. We look forward to the experiences, memories, and camaraderie that will be created both on and off the mats.

Forms training is one of the defining characteristics of K*k Sool Hapkido, and is an important part of traditional Korean martial arts practitioners' training.

Check out Grand Master Steve Seo’s 5 points to remember when training forms to help improve your daily training and achieve your forms goals! Save this post and follow for more training tips in the future!

Grand Master Steve Seo’s tips for forms training:
1. Mindfulness – When training forms, strive to be fully present, both mentally and physically.
2. Fluidity – Create fluid movements by relaxing your shoulders, and generate power from your hips, core, and waist.
3. Tempo & Cadence – Understand when to go fast, when to go slowly, and balance both throughout.
4. Stance – Vary your stances based on intent of the form. Discover your ideal stances by exploring purposes such as realism vs. balance, strength building vs. speed.
5. Harmony – Use your forms to find balance and harmony in mind and body.

Good luck to our WKF members competing in forms at the world championship in Korea next week!!
