My name is Karen Perez and I am the founder of Preparing for Takeoff Consulting. I created this business based on my passion to work with families and teenagers as they navigate the increasingly competitive college admission process and transition into adulthood. Services offered:

My background and experience:
I have been an educator in California public high schools for the past 14 years - first as a teacher, then an Academic Counselor, and now, as the Coordinator for Alternative Education. I have a passion for working with high school students as they plan their future. I have guided students, then celebrated with them, as they have been accepted to Universities across the country including: Stanford, University of Chicago, MIT, Rutgers, Penn State, University of Wisconsin - Madison, Cal Tech, as well as each and every U.C. Through my years working in education, I have also prided myself on reaching students that for any number of reasons, were not motivated to attend a four year college. It is exciting for me to work with students that have had some challenges, and help them to see how valuable they are and encourage them on a path toward success.
