What's YOUR word?
I have not always been a word girl. Like so many of us, I would start the year with great expectations, proudly proclaiming my New Year's Resolutions, ready to make this my best year……
Then, on February 9, you know, National Quitter's Day, I would reset and start again or, worse, give up on my dreams of a "best year."
For me, New Year's Resolutions became discouraging, and instead of joyfully stepping into a new year, I was filled with stress and anxiety.
"Illegitimi non carborundum" ("don't let the ba$*ards grind you down") had become my battle cry while navigating some tumultuous years, but I was finally getting my feet under me and that phrase no longer served me. I was ready for my next chapter.
As the new year approached, I longed for a way to step into my next chapter. I couldn't get past the old baggage of those New Year's Resolution fails. I wanted something to define my vision for the year, guide my decisions and, most importantly, help me feel powerful.
I was turning 50, and life would be different; I would be BOLD.
As a single woman with children living their own lives, my possibilities were limitless. So, with determination and BOLD as my filter, I created a whole new life and started a lasting tradition.
Long gone are those feelings of disappointment and stress from resolutions. My word for the year has replaced those feelings with possibilities and enthusiasm.
This year, my word is LEAP.
It's perplexing, that word leap. Leaping is typically a comfortable place for me, maybe too comfortable, and still, I know this is my word.
As I start the year, I am intrigued by what "leap" means for me. The possibilities are beyond my imagination, and I have no idea where the year of "LEAP" will lead, but I am excited to see where I land.
Do you have a word for 2024?
A single, powerful word that serves as a source of motivation and reflection, a beacon guiding your decisions, shaping your goals, and reminding you of your priorities.
If yes, what's your word?
What meaning does it hold for you, and how will it inspire your actions throughout the year?
Share your word in the comments and let's inspire each other with our visions for the year ahead.

Ready to own your MOXIE?
As we step into this new year, let's take a moment to appreciate something really special – the real you.
Yes, you heard it right!
This year, it's not about chasing the 'NEW' but embracing and nurturing the 'REAL.'
You see, 'New Year, New You' might sound catchy, but hey, what's wrong with the current you?
You're already fabulous, full of experiences, lessons, and growth.
So, instead of looking for a complete overhaul, why not focus on what makes you uniquely you and bring more of that into the new year?
Want to learn more about how to twirl into 2024 feeling BOLDER and ready to launch into your next chapter? Send me a DM or grab a spot on my calendar (link in the comments), and let's chat.
We'll explore your dreams, passions, and even those little whispers of ambition that you might be hesitant to voice out loud, and then we'll map out a plan specifically designed for you.
Let's make 2024 the year you boldly claim your Moxie.

"Shifting Gears: From 'New Year, New You' to 'New Year, Real You'
I'm overwhelmed by the overflowing "New Year, New You" programs and suggestions. How about you?
Their marketing is so effective that they get my wheels turning, and I find myself falling into that I need a "new me mindset."
The self-doubt warning sign turns on, and I'm trapped in over-analysis, questioning their lists of to-be and to-do and what that actually means for me in 2024.
Can you relate?
﹖You started a program on the first of January only to arrive in March, lost, stuck, and vowing to start again.
﹖You start the new year super excited, vowing that this will BE THE YEAR of (insert your word/s of choice), only to find yourself disappointed and discouraged by mid-year.
﹖Or, you come to the end of the year disappointed. You find yourself challenged to create another new set of goals, hoping you will get it right this time.
Over the years… I've bought into the "New Year, New You" ideas:
✅ I completed transformational programs
✅ My bookshelf is full of books I have read on how to change
✅ I invested in therapists and coaches
Heck, I even spent a year training to be a Life Coach.
Don't get me wrong, I believe in all of those resources. Some are ABSOLUTELY instrumental in helping you discover and plan.
However, the ONE and MOST crucial part of transformation is YOU.
Often, we get so caught up in the excitement of the new year that we jump on board without thinking, and in the rush to be part of this momentous milestone, we lose sight of what truly matters: clarity of our true selves.
When YOU can quiet those external influences, allow time for genuine reflection, and summon the courage to step outside your comfort zone and make that BOLD, maybe even that impossible, choice is when YOU will find the transformation you desire.
I am not suggesting that the first of the year isn't a great time to start something new. There is loads of research supporting the validity of the "Fresh Start Effect."
And for those who thrive by beginning the New Year with goals and aspirations, I encourage you to embrace your process and coming success. I even challenge you to look at those aspirations through the lens of BOLD. Is there something that seems impossible waiting for you? What's holding you back?
If New Year's Resolutions don't fit you, if goal setting and programs feel like disruptive noise, stress, and pressure, allow yourself the FREEDOM to let it go. Take time to discover what you need to move into this next year, embracing YOU.
You, my woman with MOXIE, what do YOU want for yourself?
What transformation do you desire? And how can you get a little more uncomfortable, stretching your growth just a bit more?
Share this post with a friend who will thank you later.

“Whenever you feel afraid, just remember. Courage is the root of change - and change is what we're chemically designed to do. So when you wake up tomorrow, make this pledge. No more holding yourself back. No more subscribing to others' opinions of what you can and cannot achieve. And no more allowing anyone to pigeonhole you into useless categories of s*x, race, economic status, and religion. Do not allow your talents to lie dormant, ladies. Design your own future. When you go home today, ask yourself what YOU will change. And then get started.”
― Bonnie Garmus, Lessons in Chemistry
Most of us have grown up believing that investing in ourselves is selfish or we found it safer to focus on those around us.
Maybe you have neglected your needs and desires for so long that you no longer recognize that woman looking at you in the mirror.
If your desire is connection with others, a willingness to discover the woman you lost is a MUST.
Taking the time to compassionately explore what changes you need to make to embrace a bolder, more authentic YOU is not selfish.
What is "holding you back" from making that pledge to yourself?
What is it that "YOU will change"?
Why not start "today"?
If you want a partner to accompany you on that journey, I am here to help!

Have you ever felt that even amidst the hustle and bustle of life, a word like 'loneliness' can echo in your thoughts, uninvited and persistent?
It’s an intriguing paradox – feeling alone even when we are not physically alone.
Loneliness isn’t just about being physically alone. It's a deeper, more profound sense of disconnect. It might be from the people around us, from our community, or, most importantly, from ourselves.
I’ve been there, feeling out of place even in familiar surroundings, grappling with the irony of longing for connection in a room full of people.
Remember, it’s okay to feel this way.
Acknowledging our loneliness is the first step towards meaningful change.
If you’ve been going through some changes in your life recently and feel the need to reconnect with yourself, you’re not alone.
It’s a journey many of us embark on.
If you’re looking to explore this path and find ways to bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be, I’m here to help!
Grab a spot on my calendar using the link in the comment below, and let’s dive into what I can do to assist you on this journey of self-discovery and connection.

🌈 This holiday season, let's choose to be ourselves. 🎄
Brené Brown says, 'True belonging requires you to be who you are.'
Loneliness can be a signal for deeper understanding.
I just wrote an article. It's on the Read Tab at GrabYourCoatCoaching.com; you can find it using the link in the comment below.
Let's find the courage to connect with ourselves and others. What does choosing yourself look like this holiday? Comment below!

Ever get one of those songs stuck in your head, like an ABBA song on a replay?
The word 'Loneliness’ has been on my mind, haunting me, even after spending time with those I love, (especially around this time of the year)
It can feel like an unsolvable puzzle - being with loved ones yet feeling a void. This contradiction is both confusing and unsettling.
Can you relate?
What if…
Loneliness is more than just a feeling.
It's a sign of something deeper, an unmet need within us.
For me, understanding loneliness has been a journey of insight.
Recognizing that even in a crowd, one can feel alone has been eye-opening. And It’s OKAY to acknowledge that. It's part of being human.
I’ve learned that acknowledging our true feelings, even loneliness is the first step toward building meaningful connections.
It's not about the number of people around us but the depth of connections we forge.
So, I'm curious - have you felt this way?
Let’s open up and share. Your story could be the light for someone in the dark. Comment on your experiences below, and let's connect over our shared experiences.
