I am here representing Oregon’s child care providers, learning from others, building connections, and using my voice to help create a better future for the providers who care for our children and strengthen our communities every day.

Child care providers deserve to be seen, heard, respected, and supported. I am proud to be here carrying their voices with me—and I will keep speaking up. Together, we can build a stronger future for child care providers across Oregon. 💚💙

☀️ Sunshine Snack Bags are back! ☀️

Through our other Silly Billies Cares projects, we have connected with families who could use a little extra support this summer. With help from caring community members, we prepared 35 Sunshine Snack Bags.

Yesterday, we delivered bags directly to several local families and placed three bags in the Dexter Free Pantry for families to pick up. 💛

Oregon’s Summer EBT program provides a helpful one-time benefit of $120 per eligible child—but children are home all summer, and families can still use extra support keeping enough meals and snacks available.

Reaching free summer meal sites can also be difficult for rural families because of limited public transportation and today’s high gas prices.

Summer EBT is not only for families who regularly receive SNAP. Families whose children qualify for free or reduced-price school meals may also be eligible, even if they do not normally receive food benefits. Applications are open through September 1, 2026:

We are incredibly grateful to The Chambers Family Foundation, whose generous grant to Silly Billies Cares made these first 35 Sunshine Snack Bags possible. Because of this wonderful gift, we can continue making and sharing more bags with children and families in our community. ☀️

I wanted to clarify a few things for those who have been reaching out and asking about Silly Billies.Silly Billies is made up of four different programs under one parent organization.

💜 Silly Billies Together is our main program. It operates from our certified family home and participates in Preschool Promise. During the school year, we serve preschool-age children, and during the summer, we serve children of all ages.

💜 Silly Billies Springfield was opened to meet the needs of infants and toddlers. It is a licensed center serving up to 16 children.

💜 Silly Billies Youth Enrichment is our school-age program that serves children before school, after school, on no-school days, and throughout the summer.

💜 Silly Billies Cares is our nonprofit organization focused on parent education, peer support services, and community service projects.

The program we are currently working to rehome is Silly Billies Youth Enrichment.
Since 2019, Pleasant Hill Lutheran Church generously provided space for this program, and we are thankful for the years we were able to serve children and families there.

As many of you know, we are now at a crossroads. Silly Billies is still here, and our mission remains the same. We are continuing to serve children and families every day. The challenge we face is finding a new home for our Youth Enrichment Program.Yesterday was our final day in the space. Today is moving day.

Please keep our children, families, staff, volunteers, and leadership team in your prayers as we begin this next chapter. We trust that God is not finished with this story and that He will continue to open doors for the families we serve.

💚 St. Patrick’s Day will always be special to me it’s my oldest daughter’s birthday and a reminder that every life is already enough.

But if I’m honest, there was a time in my life when I didn’t feel like I was enough. Growing up with abandonment made me believe I had to constantly prove my worth.

Over time, through healing, faith, and the love of my husband and family, I learned something that changed everything: I was already enough.

That’s why this message means so much to me. Each “You Are Enough” bracelet set comes with two bracelets one to keep and one to give away to someone who might need that reminder.

Sometimes the smallest reminder can change someone’s day or even their life.

Through our Silly Billies kindness projects and the Let Your Light Shine movement, we try to spread little reminders of hope like this in our community.

Our Silly Billies Cares Youth Group successfully organized a community kindness initiative, facilitated by the generous support of Thrivent and Wildly Kind. The youth participants collaborated to create and distribute kindness packages, demonstrating a commendable commitment to spreading kindness. Together, they shared 50 clear kindness bags containing essential supplies and snacks, 18 purple kindness bags featuring surprise elements, 24 packages of kindness seeds aimed at promoting growth in kindness, and additional 'little bee kindness bags' slated for distribution. Observing the group's collaborative efforts in writing notes, packing bags, and working together served as a poignant reminder that even small acts of kindness can profoundly impact someone's day. We extend our gratitude to Thrivent, Wildly Kind, and all contributors for their instrumental roles in facilitating this project. The collective efforts of these young individuals emphasize the significance of kindness and community service.

This morning I arrived at work and noticed a man sheltering in the bushes near our building. With the cold rain coming down, my heart felt heavy.I went inside and spoke with my team. We realized he was missing a shoe and looked like he had fallen. So I walked back out to check on him.He quietly asked if I could help him stand up. He had fallen and just needed a hand.
I helped him up.Wrapped him in a warm blanket.
Asked if he knew where he was headed and if he would be okay.He was so thankful.Kindness doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful.Sometimes it’s simply offering a steady hand in the rain.Wildly Kind isn’t just something we hand out it’s something we live. Be on the lookout. You never know when you might be someone’s steady hand. 💜

"SPREAD THE LIGHT KITS" by Silly Billies Cares is a project where your youth and little ones are working to spread kindness in our community. Recently, they hid bracelets with positive messages, then created uplifting statements and small ducks to bring joy. Thrivent donated $250, which will cover most expenses, and they offered to cover fees, ensuring donations go directly to the project. The team plans to carry out this activity on March 6, 2026. Every dollar helps, and we appreciate your support in showing kids and families that goodness is still alive. 🌟
