🎨 From DVC student to creative industry leader.

“When I started the art digital media program at DVC, I was a working, single parent. It was not easy, but I did it. I strongly believe in the inner power each student has,” said alumna Yudy Herrera Orellana.

At DVC, Yudy earned associate degrees in design and visual communications and business administration and management. Today, she serves as a program manager at BRIDGEGOOD, where she leads creative projects, manages design initiatives, and helps create opportunities for aspiring professionals.

Yudy credits DVC with helping her develop the technical and professional skills needed for her career and encourages students to build connections with their instructors along the way.

❤️🖤💚 Juneteenth Celebration at DVC - Join us as we celebrate Juneteenth and recognize the enduring impact of Black history, culture, achievement, and community.

The DVC community is invited to come together for a day of reflection, learning, music, food, and celebration at DVC Pleasant Hill on Thursday, June 18.

EVENT SCHEDULE:

• 11:30 am: Juneteenth Flag Raising Ceremony (Parking Lot 5)

• 12:00 pm: Program featuring personal stories, student and alumni journeys, entrepreneurship, and the significance of Juneteenth (Bistro/Food Court and Commons

• 1:00 pm: Line dancing, Black-owned business vendors, Umoja tabling, music, and more

Attendees can also enjoy a catered lunch from Touch of Soul at the Student Union Conference Room/Bistro.

🎓⚡ When Cecilia Brito Bernal realized a traditional four-year program wasn't the right fit, she looked for a more hands-on path and found it at DVC.

After enrolling in DVC's Electrical and Electronics Technology program, Cecilia discovered a supportive community that helped her build confidence, develop technical skills, and pursue her goal of becoming the first woman in her family to enter the field. 👩‍🔧🔌
