Growing Healthy Kids Garden and Nutrition Education Program The garden project exists thanks to parent volunteers, community donations, and fundraising events.

Valhalla Elementary School's edible garden was introduced in the 2011-12 school year and began to take shape the following fall. 💙💛Today was the last Garden class for our fifth graders. They left a piece of themselves at Valhalla via a painted rock. We wish them well and know they will do great things at middle school and beyond.

🌱May the seeds we planted in Garden class continue to bloom within you — inspiring you to care for our Earth, enjoy healthy foods, and always choose kindness first.🌱

Tastings during garden class!

MDUSD Food and Nutrition Services is providing rainbow carrots for our students to taste and rate this week! 🌈🥕

A few weeks ago we enjoyed amazingly sweet Cara Cara oranges during cooking lessons, also provided by MDUSD. 🧡🍊

Happy new year! ✨
We are back in the garden, creating healthy snacks, and learning where our food comes from!
Ask your TK-2 student if they remember making ants on a log or a yummy citrus bok choy salad- both big hits and easy to recreate at home😊

💙Team work makes the Dream Work!💛

This year’s Community Service Day was one of the best ones yet, thanks to our partners and over 40 volunteers who transformed the front of our school!

Please enjoy the pictures of our beautiful drought tolerant pollinator plants in fresh mulch, the spruced up stairs, 🐍Val- our new Valhalla pet, new plants around campus and a new weather station!
We are forever grateful!🌱
