Professional Development Opportunity for Math Educators
Bridging the Gap: A Secondary Math Special Education and Intervention Leadership Series

Description: This leadership series builds a county-wide network of Special Education leaders in mathematics. With a focus on learning acceleration strategies and building conceptual understanding of the math needed for success in Algebra 1, this community of practice focuses on necessary components to designing classes and district-wide systems which meet the needs of students with disabilities and unfinished learning from earlier grades.

Dates & Time: 9/14/26, 10/27/26, 12/3/26, 1/21/27, 2/23/27, 4/13/27; 9:00am-2:30pm
Target Audience: Middle and High School Special Education Coordinators, Case Managers, Co-Techers and Paraprofessionals. Bring a team!

Cost: Free; We hope to have funding available to offset sub costs for Contra Costa County educators. Having a SPED Coordinator on your team is a funding requirement.

Title: Leading Math Boldly: Leadership for Powerful, Equitable Mathematics
Description: This series is for district and site administrators to enhance their role as instructional leaders in mathematics. It focuses on developing the knowledge, strategies and systems necessary for leading equitable standards-aligned improvements based on the pedagogy of the California Mathematics Framework.

Target Audience: District and Site Administrators who oversee math. We encourage districts to also invite a few TOSAs, teachers and paraprofessionals whose leadership you want to elevate.

Professional Development Opportunity for Educators: Join the Civic Action Project Teacher Cohort

Join CCCOE for the National Civic Action Project Teacher Cohort on August 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

This professional learning opportunity, in partnership with Teach Democracy, supports educators in bringing civic engagement into the classroom. Participants will receive standards-aligned lessons focused on media literacy, U.S. history, and current issues, along with a $325 stipend for implementation with students.

Attendees will also join a community of practice and receive a certificate of participation and a letter of commendation. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Limited travel support is available for those traveling more than 75 miles.

Calling Contra Costa County students with an interest in media, storytelling, and real-world impact.

The Contra Costa County Office of Education is seeking two student hosts for Money Moves: Real Life Skills for the Next Generation, a new financial literacy radio and digital media series.

Student hosts will:
• Co-host and help shape on-air conversations
• Interview community leaders, professionals, and fellow students
• Gain hands-on experience in radio, podcasting, television, and digital media production
• Create content that helps young people navigate real-world financial decisions

This is an opportunity to build communication and media production skills while helping inform and empower youth across Contra Costa County.
