Early voting started today at the Cass County Election Commission!

Maggie Douglas is the best choice for State Board of Education in District 2!

Her opponent advocated for the book ban in Plattsmouth and will push a similar extreme agenda on the state level.

Maggie is a former public school teacher and licensed mental health practitioner. She will always advocate for our students and our schools.

“Terri Cunningham-Swanson's appointment is not just a threat to our libraries but to the will of Nebraskans who believe in protecting access to information for all”

A group of “concerned citizens” is organizing a public comment protest at the Nebraska Library Commission’s meeting on Friday morning to draw attention to Gov. Jim Pillen’s recent appointment to the panel.

New developments shine light on Governor Pillen’s appointment. The incumbent chair of the Library Commission was to be reappointed and instead, at the last minute, Pillen appointed Terri Cunningham-Swanson. It came as a shock to commission staff.

The incumbent chair already had three years of experience on the commission and worked as a public school educator.

Cunningham-Swanson has no relevant experience and only brings to the commission a political agenda.

It really is a disservice to Nebraskans and the libraries that this commission supports.

Gov. Jim Pillen replaced Beth Kabes, an educator who had been accepted for a second term on the Nebraska Library Commission, with former school board member Terri Cunningham-Swanson.

The fight against book bans is not over. They're still pushing to restrict books and criminalize librarians across the country.

Since Terri Cunningham-Swanson was removed from the Plattsmouth School Board, she has been working to elect Linda Vermooten to the State Board of Education.

Vermooten will vote for policies that ban books, place further restrictions on educators, and criminalize librarians.

Please get out and vote this November for Maggie Douglas who is a former educator, mental health practitioner, and winner of the Buffet Teacher of the Year award. She is not running to implement a political agenda but rather to listen to the needs of students and educators.

Book restrictions in Indiana pressure public schools and libraries to remove books
