Term: Seasonal, temporary employment (mid-June through late August or early September)
Job Description: Seeking up to eight qualified individuals to work as part of a field team conducting research-grade surveys of aquatic native and invasive species (plant and animal). This research is part of a project to map the distribution of aquatic invasive species across the state. Surveys will be performed by boat (motor boat and canoe) at lakes and rivers in New York State. Experience with motor craft is not needed to apply and we will train individuals to work safely on the water.
This position is based out of Saranac Lake, NY, but the team will be in the field 3-4 days each week. Overnight trips may be required for distant survey locations.
Selected individual will work as an assistant to a Crew Leader. You will work directly with Adirondack Research Director Dr. Ezra Schwartzberg and Adirondack Research’s Project Manager.
Must have driver’s license.
Qualifications: Experience conducting field research required, however suitable course work and practicum experience will be considered as an alternative to relevant research experience. Preference for students enrolled in Fisheries and Wildlife Science, Biology or other degree programs.
