Woo hoo hoo! Great science and outreach happening this summer with Michala, Amélie Przedwiecki, and Maddy❤️💪🏻🌱🌳🐢🎣
🌲 Meet Our 2026 Forest Conservation Corps (FCC) Lead Staff! 🌲
We’re thrilled to welcome Amélie Przedwiecki and Madelynne Solan to Hudson Taconic Lands!
This summer, Amélie and Madelynne will lead FCC crews of 14 to 16-year-olds at four conservation sites across Rensselaer County. They will guide and mentor these local teens through the process of undertaking projects that protect our conserved lands and improve visitor experiences. FCC participants will help build new trails, construct benches and boot brush stations to reduce the spread of invasive species, enhance public access, restore habitat, and complete a variety of stewardship projects. The youth will also play outdoor games, write in their journals, make new friends, and create lasting memories.
Both Amélie and Madelynne come from the CEES, bringing with them a shared passion for conservation and environmental education. Amélie recently completed her master’s degree in Natural Resources and Ecology and has extensive experience leading environmental education programs. Most recently, she taught K–12 students throughout the Lake Champlain basin as a watershed educator with Sea Grant.
Madelynne is entering her third year of the Natural Resources and Ecology Master’s Program and is passionate about science communication and connecting young people to the outdoors through hands-on learning. Madelynne has been a soccer coach, conducted a wide range of field work, and serves as a host of 🌍Late Night for the Planet 🌎, a Plattsburgh based, student-run environmental education game show.
Their hiring is especially meaningful to our team. Hudson Taconic Lands’ Youth Programming Director, Michala Hendrick, is also a proud CEES SUNY Plattsburgh Alumni and our summer Stewardship Technician, Libby, is another fellow Cardinal! It’s exciting to see such a strong connection across our staff and to welcome talented young conservation professionals to HTL.
Please join us in giving Amélie and Madelynne a warm welcome — we can’t wait to see the difference they’ll make this summer alongside this year’s Forest Conservation Corps participants! 💚🌿
