Adventure was in the air as our Adventure Based Counseling (ABC) students and staff from the Rise Plattsburgh campus took on Whiteface Mountain! The hike gave students an opportunity to challenge themselves, work together, and enjoy the beauty of the Adirondacks while building confidence and perseverance along the way.

Middle School ITSP students found a thoughtful way to welcome staff back to school! 🌸 Students used locally grown flowers and recycled containers to create colorful arrangements for classrooms and offices throughout the building.

Once the arrangements were ready, students delivered them personally and shared a friendly welcome-back message with staff. Along the way, they practiced communication, social skills, teamwork, planning, and creativity while connecting with people throughout the school.

This simple project was a wonderful reminder that small acts of kindness can make a big difference. We’re proud of our students for using their skills to brighten someone’s day and help create a welcoming school community!

A new school store is bringing a fun and meaningful addition to Rise Mineville this year! 🛍️Over the summer, Marcie Frasier put her creativity and time into developing an incentive-based school store where students can earn rewards for making positive choices and demonstrating behaviors that support a successful learning environment.

The store is part of a larger approach that encourages students to build responsibility, practice self-regulation, show respect, and take pride in their accomplishments. By recognizing positive behavior and celebrating progress, students have opportunities to see that their efforts matter and that growth deserves to be celebrated.

Thank you to Marcie for putting so much thought and effort into creating this special opportunity for our students!

Duken Life Skills students kicked off the school year by giving back to their community! During their first community cleanup, students worked together to collect litter and help keep shared public spaces clean. With gloves, trash bags, and litter grabbers in hand, they put important skills into practice while making a positive difference in their community.

The experience gave students the opportunity to strengthen teamwork, responsibility, communication, safety awareness, and workplace skills in a real-world setting. They also got to see the results of their hard work and experience the pride that comes from making a meaningful contribution.

We’re excited to see where this year of hands-on learning and community involvement takes them!

Please join us in recognizing our Rise principals for the care, guidance, and leadership they bring to our school community each day. At our Plattsburgh campus, we are proud to recognize Crystal Rhino, Michele Lawrence, and Emily Blair. At our Mineville campus, we are grateful for Tina Mitchell and her commitment to supporting students, staff, and families.

Thank you for the time, energy, and heart you put into leading our schools and creating an environment where every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. We appreciate you this month and every day!

September 29 was a great night at Rise Mineville as we opened our doors for Fall Family Night! Families spent the evening exploring classrooms, getting to know the educators and support staff who work with their children, and discovering more about the activities and opportunities happening throughout the school day. It was a wonderful chance to strengthen school and family connections while giving families a closer look at the welcoming environment our students enjoy each day. Of course, no family night would be complete without a little extra excitement, and guests had the opportunity to take home some fun prizes! We are grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so enjoyable.

The Rise Plattsburgh ITSP program enjoyed a beautiful day outdoors with a hike in Wilmington last week! Students and staff had the opportunity to explore the area, enjoy the fresh air, and spend time together outside of the classroom. It was a great way to build connections, enjoy nature, and make some memories along the way!

It was wonderful to welcome families to the Rise Plattsburgh Open House on September 23! Families had the chance to visit classrooms, meet the staff who support their children each day, and experience a glimpse of the learning and activities that take place throughout the school day. The evening was a great opportunity for families and staff to connect, share questions, and learn more about the programs and experiences that make Rise special. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening a great success!
