Brothers Owen Trone and Kurt Zimmerman recently traveled to Louisville, Kentucky, for Alpha Gamma Rho’s National Convention, accompanied by our chapter advisor, David Heimerdinger.

While at the convention, they had the opportunity to network with AGR brothers from across the country, represent Beta Gamma, and take part in voting on proposed changes to the National Constitution. It was a great opportunity to be involved in AGR at the national level and bring new ideas back to our chapter.

This summer, Brother Owen Trone is gaining hands-on experience as a Nutrition Intern at Pearl City Elevator!

His responsibilities include unloading trucks, delivering bagged feed, cleaning bins, mixing rations, completing general maintenance, and assisting a nutritionist with field research trials. Through this internship, Owen is building valuable knowledge and experience to help prepare him for a future career.

Last weekend, the brothers hosted the second annual Making Better Men Scholarship event!

Potential new members had the opportunity to tour the AGR house, meet our members, learn more about our chapter, and take part in conversations about leadership, agriculture, brotherhood, and what it means to be a better man.

This event continues to be an important part of our year-round recruitment efforts and allows us to connect with incoming students who are interested in getting involved at UW-Platteville. Thank you to everyone who attended, helped plan, gave tours, and represented Beta Gamma throughout the day.

The 2nd Summer Reunion was held at Kestrel Golf Course in Columbus, Wisconsin, this past week. A special thank-you goes to John Blaska, David Ward, and Jeff Blaska for hosting another wonderful gathering.

Several brothers enjoyed a round of golf before joining the rest of the group in the clubhouse. The afternoon was filled with smiles, catching up, great food, and plenty of storytelling. Scott Laufenberg also provided a brief update on the house and grounds, scholarships, and fundraising efforts.

Great facility, great food, and even better company. Thank you again to the hosts and everyone who attended.

Mark your calendars for a special weekend in Platteville as Alpha Gamma Rho Beta Gamma celebrates Founders Day 2027 and the Alumni 55th Anniversary Celebration.

Join us March 12–13, 2027, for a weekend centered on brotherhood, tradition, memories, and connection across generations of AGR. The celebration begins Friday evening with “Slices and Stories” at Steve’s Pizza, followed by a full Saturday of gathering, reminiscing, chapter house tours, and the Alumni 55th Anniversary Dinner at the Velzy Center.

Alumni are encouraged to secure lodging early and to consider supporting the silent and live auction, with proceeds benefiting active members and helping shape the next generation of AGR leaders.

We look forward to welcoming brothers, alumni, and friends back to Platteville for a meaningful weekend of celebration, history, and fellowship.

Brayden Peter is graduating with bachelor’s degrees in Animal Science and Agricultural Business and is originally from Howards Grove, Wisconsin. Following graduation, he is exploring his next steps as he prepares to begin his professional career.
During his time in Alpha Gamma Rho, Brayden was involved in leadership and chapter life. He served as Vice Noble Ruler of Activities and Vice Noble Ruler of Membership Development, while also contributing to the Risk Management Committee, Judicial Board, and Community Service Committee. Beyond AGR, he was a member of Block and Bridle, where he held leadership roles as President, Vice President, and Swine Show Chair.
Reflecting on his experience, Brayden shared that his time at Platteville was incredibly meaningful, and through AGR, he learned the true value of brotherhood, leadership, and commitment. The relationships and experiences he gained made it clear there is no other group of people he would have rather spent his college years with.
We’re proud of everything Brayden has accomplished and excited to see what he does next. Once a brother, always a brother.

Mark your calendars for Ag Fest next year!

Join us on Friday, September 18th, at 5:00 PM for our annual Ag Fest celebration. This event brings together students, alumni, industry leaders, and the community for a night focused on agriculture, tradition, and supporting the UW-Platteville School of Agriculture.

All proceeds from Ag Fest go directly toward supporting the School of Agriculture. Sponsorship opportunities are available for individuals, businesses, and organizations looking to support the event and be recognized through donor shirts, promotional materials, event shirts, and banners, depending on sponsor level.
