These eight students were all smiles on the first day of their practicum at Cuba City Elementary School. We know they're in good hands and will learn amazing things, as Cuba City was just designated as a top public elementary school by U.S. News and World Report.

After helping us out last year in high school math, Mrs. Weier will take her talents to our middle school for the first nine weeks.

A Highland High School and UW-Platteville graduate, she spent 35 years teaching math in the Dodgeville School District.

📚 New position at Lancaster Community Schools: High School English teacher

🍎 What inspired you to become an educator? I was inspired by many of the great English teachers I had as a student, as well as my passion for writing and reading. I aspire to help students grow into confident writers and thoughtful readers.

💙 What interested you in joining the Lancaster Community Schools team? Being from a large suburb of Chicago, I really love the small-town life here in southwest Wisconsin. I am always being told such great things about the school district and community of Lancaster, and I’m looking forward to experiencing it for myself.

🏈 What do you like to do outside the school (hobbies, interests, etc.)? I will be coaching football here, and have really enjoyed working with the coaches and athletes so far. I enjoy being active, whether that’s playing tennis or going for a walk. During the summer, you can catch me serving tables at Steve’s Pizza in Platteville.

💥 Demolishing barriers, building opportunities! Today, an Instructional Design class watched a building demolition and connected the experience to Universal Design for Learning. Sometimes the first step in creating better learning experiences is removing what stands in the way.

Lecturer Caitlin Rosemeyer enjoyed spending time at Apple Canyon Lake this summer swimming, playing euchre, tubing, fishing, and eating lots of good food. Now, she's ready to dive into the new semester!

Lecturer Jennifer Russell spent time with her family at the Wisconsin State Fair this summer. Her daughter was awarded the Reserve Grand Champion Market Barrow! Perhaps there are a few future Pioneers in this picture?!?

Assistant Professor Jessica Kluck was busy this summer taking her two daughters to tennis lessons and tournaments. Jessica's ready to take a swing at teaching college students as she joins the School of Education Department this year.

Lecturer Shelly Cascio enjoyed visiting the Platteville Mining Museum this summer. She's emerged from the underground and is ready to dig into a new semester teaching Introduction to Education and Instructional Design.
