🌿 Did you know?
Group therapy can be just as effective as individual therapy for many conditions—including depression, stress, and anxiety disorders—according to the American Journal of Psychotherapy.

One of the biggest benefits?
✨ “It’s the healing power of finding out that other people feel the same way you feel.” — Dr. Amy Nitza

UW-Platteville offers several group therapy days and times for students to take advantage of.

You’re not alone. Healing can happen together. 💚

Our student spotlight for March: Carson McKeag

I am a Junior majoring in Industrial Technology Management with a drafting emphasis.

In addition to being the D.E.A.L club vice president I am the president of the special Olympics club, and I am on the UW Platteville bowling team.

Some of my hobbies are 3d printing, fishing, reading, video games and hanging out having fun with friends and family.

My personal quote is: "Nothing ventured, nothing gained."

In terms of socially, my disability makes it so in a busy place I may not be able to find my friends. In terms of academics, my disability makes it so I may struggle understanding the material being taught as I cannot see the material being taught. fortunately, I have great family, friends as well as the many great faculty members on campus to help me with any issue.

For students navigating higher education with a disability, I would encourage you to believe in yourself. Find what works best with yourself and use that to succeed. Most importantly do not be afraid to stand up for yourself, especially if you need to resolve an issue that can help improve your quality of life. Having a disability is a part of us, but it does not make us who we are, and it does not define our lives.
