Today, our school conducted a required fire safety drill. Please know that this was only a drill and there was no actual emergency.

We are also conducting bus presentations and drills this week to ensure all students know what to do, if there’s an emergency on the bus.

These drills help ensure our students and staff know what to do in the event of an emergency and are part of our ongoing efforts to keep our schools safe.

🔨 Little Engineers at Work! 🏗️✨

Our 1st Grade STEM students from Mrs. Aro’s homeroom are learning that engineers don’t just build—they ask questions, imagine possibilities, make a plan, build, test, and improve!

Students are preparing for their BIG engineering project: redesigning their school playground! 🛝

Before tackling their playground designs, our young engineers are completing mini engineering challenges that help them practice the Engineering Design Process and strengthen their teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Today’s challenge: Build the tallest freestanding tower using ONLY 10 index cards and 6 pieces of tape! 📏🏗️

Working in teams, students had to:

⭐ ASK — What is the challenge?
💭 IMAGINE — What could we build?
✏️ PLAN — Sketch and discuss our ideas.
🔨 BUILD — Turn our plan into a structure.
🔄 IMPROVE — What can we change to make it better?

There was plenty of experimenting, problem-solving, redesigning, and—most importantly—TEAMWORK! Students quickly discovered that sometimes the first idea doesn’t work, and that’s exactly what engineering is all about!

We are building more than towers—we are building thinkers, problem solvers, collaborators, and future engineers! ❤️🔬⚙️
