5 TIPS FOR SWITCHING YOUR COLOR LINE 🎨
Switching color lines doesn’t mean starting over. You already know how to formulate, how to read hair, and how to create beautiful color. You’re just learning a new language.
Here are my biggest tips when transitioning to a new line like Innersense Color Purity:
1. KEEP YOUR OLD LINE AS BACKUP
You do not have to throw everything away and go all in overnight. Keep your familiar formulas nearby while you build confidence with the new line. Transition, don’t panic 😂
2. GET MODELS + PRACTICE
Take the pressure off. Grab models, swatch hair, formulate, take notes, and PLAY. The fastest way to understand a color line is to actually use it.
3. CONSULT THE COLOR BOOK + COLOR MAP
Even if you’ve been doing hair for 20 years, READ THE DAMN BOOK 😂 Every color line has its own logic. Reference the color map, understand the tonal families, and stop assuming a 7 in one line behaves exactly like a 7 in another.
4. FOLLOW THE MANUFACTURER’S INSTRUCTIONS
Mixing ratios, processing times, developer choices, gray coverage recommendations, application… follow the system as it was designed before you start trying to outsmart it. Once you understand the rules, THEN you can start breaking them.
5. GIVE YOURSELF SOME GRACE
This is the biggest one.
It’s easy to do the same thing you’ve done 1,000 times. It’s not easy to change an entire color line and expect yourself to immediately have the same confidence you built over YEARS with another one.
There is a learning curve with anything new. That doesn’t mean the line isn’t working or that you’re doing something wrong. It means you’re learning.
Stay curious. Take notes. Ask questions. Keep practicing.
