This is one of my all time favorite videos I have ever posted.

The coolest part is I still teach this little one! She is almost 3 now.

The most important thing is consistency and continuous practice with the children.

Just because they learn to survive when they are little doesn’t mean they know how to swim.

You need to continue practicing and stay consistent as your child gets older.

The swim industry is broken.

Most academies are just babysitting services in the water. They trade minutes for dollars while parents sit on the sidelines hoping for progress.

We are done with that.

God gave us the responsibility to protect our children and equip them with dominion in the water. It is not just about bubbles. It is about survival and confidence.

A few words from Larry, owner of Kaizen Kidz, after attending our past swim instructors retreat. 🙌

The connections, ideas, and conversations that happen when swim school owners get in the same room are hard to replicate anywhere else.

If you’d like to know when the next retreat is happening and how you can be part of it, make sure to check the link in our bio and join the SSU community!🌴

Almost two years old and already having the time of her life in the pool. 💙

This is one of my favorite ways to introduce back floating to little ones and it looks a lot more like a game than a swim lesson. Because for kids this age it has to be fun!

Here is what we are doing. I spin her around slowly in the water, both directions, and what I am waiting for is her chin to drift back and her ears to meet the water. That little shift in posture tells me her body is starting to give in to the float. The moment it happens I lift her up. That is the reinforcement. That is how we chip away at building a real back float over time.

Now if your child is brand new to this I would not wait for the chin to come up right away. Just spin, get those ears in the water, and repeat it throughout the whole lesson. You are planting the seed. The posture comes with time and repetition.

What I love about this particular method is that it does not feel like work to the child. It feels like spinning. It feels like playing. And while they are busy having fun their body is quietly learning exactly what a float is supposed to feel like.

That is the whole game at this age.
