HCA Florida Westside/Northwest Internal Medicine Program

And… we did a thing! 😊
It was the first ever HCA GME QI poster contest presented by Internal Medicine residents, at HCA Florida Westside and HCA Florida Northwest hospitals.
Quality improvement projects positively impact patient care and outcomes directly or indirectly.
For a resident in training to be able to identify an issue as an opportunity is already an achievement! And to be able to take it up as a task, set up a goal, plan on the interventions and actually work on it, eventually showing improvement in data, with the end point being “better patient care” is how success as a healthcare provider defined.
It’s these new extra set of eyes that we rely on, filled with inquisitiveness and passion, when a QI project develops. It’s the chaos that we’re used to in the system and accept as it is, is where our residents see the opportunities and these QI projects were possible!
The earlier and the more a resident is trained to strive for quality today, the better they will be as physicians tomorrow!
