Plant City resident Grace Burris has been selected as the 2026 Hillsborough College commencement speaker, an honor earned through a competitive speech contest that drew some of the school’s most accomplished students.

Burris hopes her words will resonate most with students who nearly gave up along the way.

“To the ones who felt like they couldn’t do it but kept going anyway, I’ve had that feeling too,” she said. “We did it.”

Our Phi Theta Kappa students have been volunteering at Achieve Plant City for their Honors in Action Project. Over the past few weeks club members have been reading books, helping with homework, and assisting students with their journals. They also collected 326 books to donate to their classroom! We are so proud of our PTK students!! 💙🤩
