BCS does not discriminate on the basis of race, colo We also have a variety of sports offered for grades 7-12.

We at Bethany Christian School provide Christian families with an alternative to the large, impersonal schools that unfortunately have become the norm in our country today. Because our class size is small, we are able to monitor student progress much more carefully. As a result, academic and behavioral problems can be detected and corrected in a much more timely fashion. Since our total enrollment

Today is National Pancake Day!

A year ago Charlie Bing, Anicet Ndikuriyo, and I wanted to develop an easier way for American believers to help Grace Bible Church of Burundi. Grace Initiative for Burundi, Inc. is now a 501c3 corporation. Please click the link, pray, and as the Lord leads, help us plant churches.

Home New churches need 500 members. In addition to the number of people, the church must have a roof, floor, bars for windows, a lockable door, and an outhouse. The churches are too poor to build buildings; we help them build.

Bethany Christian School is closed Tuesday, January 16, 2024 due to the bitterly cold weather. Please stay warm and enjoy your day! We love you all and will see you soon.

We are delighted to announce that all of our teacher positions have been filled. Thank you for your prayers. We started in-service today!
Would you like to help? We need a desk for our new teacher! One that is small enough for a very full classroom of students! Respond here, or let the office know. We will come pick it up and provide a tax-deductible receipt.

School is just around the corner! We are delighted to announce Maria Rand as our Third and Fourth Grade teacher. Maria worked here in 2003 and is excited to return to Bethany. Please continue to pray for a Fifth and Sixth Grade teacher. If you know someone who works well with this age, please have them contact us.

We can't wait to see everyone back here on August 21!

Our 4th, 5th, and 6th graders enjoyed a tasty science project!

Spring is in the air: pollen, flowers, bees, and even the smell of asphalt on our parking lot is in the air! We are so thankful for repairs to the lot!

Mrs. Sara, our Registrar, is teaching the 4-6 grade class. She needs someone to help on a part-time basis, particularly in math and science. Would you like to work a couple of hours a day with some great kids and an excellent teacher? See the office asap!

Our Second and Third Graders enjoy an unusual science lesson!

We are closed tomorrow, Friday, February 3, 2023. The temperature is projected to go down to 23 tonight, our staff is older, our people come from far away, we can't keep the building warm, and we have plenty of educational days in our calendar. We'll see you on Monday.

Bethany Christian is closed Thursday, February 2, 2023.

Bethany Christian School is closed Wednesday, February 1, 2023.

Bethany Christian School will be closed on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. We not only need to contend with freezing rain, our heat pumps become ineffective the longer we remain below 35. We will make a decision about Wednesday at a later time.

Our Kindergarten class is learning about First Responders. The life of a person is precious and must be protected; this lesson is best learned at a young age!

I am so happy to report a new tool to help our children and staff enjoy Fridays! We purchased this at an auction for 1/3 of retail! Thank you Lord!!

Dear Parents and Guardians:

The educational world is trying to recover from the way our government handled COVID. Some areas are still trying to utilize virtual learning. We discontinued virtual instruction on June 1, 2020, because we found that it gave significantly weaker results than in-person instruction. We like our model of the small classroom where our Christian teacher directs the learning using an excellent curriculum.

Some students coming to our school are behind the ones that stayed with us through the pandemic. We believe that the best and fairest way to proceed is to encourage families with students receiving low and failing grades to secure additional instructional help. We all made sacrifices during COVID, and getting all of our students on track academically will require extra attention at home.

Here is what you can do to strengthen your student’s academics:
1. Read aloud to your children from birth through twelfth grade. Read to them every night. Read interesting stories that are age appropriate, but READ to them. See Mrs. Sara in the office if you need some suggestions. We have already started school-wide reading initiatives, but you will also need to read to them at home.
2. Secure tutoring and after-school assistance. Many families will need to make up a full year or more of poor instructional learning. Plan on sending students to our summer school to strengthen weak areas in their overall academic development.
3. Be willing to pay for and supervise on-line, supplemental programs. All new families to Bethany in the secondary school should enroll in The cost is $15 for 6 months of in-depth basic English grammar. While the public schools have dropped English grammar instruction, our curriculum requires it. Their English grades will greatly improve if they can identify the parts of speech.

The turmoil of our world is no surprise to our Savior. He is managing this world flawlessly while actively inviting people to believe in Him and to follow His leadership into His coming kingdom. While many forces are at work disappointing and damaging our families’ spiritual, academic, and emotional development, the local church and a good Christian school can assist you in providing a solid foundation for your children. They will be equipped to handle anything in life!

Thank you for being a part of Bethany. Let’s look to the Lord for a great year!

My love to you all,

Marvin J. Effa

We are half way through in-service. School starts Monday and our staff is almost ready to greet your student and be amazed at how much they have grown over the summer!

We are looking for a mom or two who can read to the elementary children once or twice a week, Monday afternoon and Friday afternoon.

In-service starts August 16! We have hired a new second grade teacher. We still need a part-time person for music or art. We can't wait to get back to school!

Texas heat is hard on a lot of things! This unit was the last original unit from 1979. Do you think the new one will even last 7 years?

A bad transformer (the electrical type, not the toy) damaged our phones. Thanks to Steve Hendrix and others for our new VOIP system. We are ready to listen to you and help meet your educational needs!

Do you know someone who would like to teach Second Grade!? We are interviewing for a full-time teacher, starting in August, 2022! Send someone our way! More information and contact email address is on the school's website.

New CHAIRS!!!! A recent auction purchase from our local libraries provided approximately 100 great chairs for our ministry. It took 2 pickups, a 16 foot trailer, and two trips to bring them to school. The students and staff cleaned them all and put them into service. Our cost, you ask? Only $27. Thank you Lord!!!

As the school end nears, our older students are delighting the Kindergarten class by reading to them. Will the older students become teachers; perhaps...they already are!
