⭐The Institute for Energy Law announces George Arceneaux III of Liskow, as the recipient of the 2026 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱⭐

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘅 - George Arceneaux is a shareholder at Liskow & Lewis in its Lafayette, Louisiana office where for nearly 40 years he has litigated a variety of matters for oil and gas clients, large and small. His career has tracked key issues in the industry itself: Early years focused on preparation and trial of personal injury cases and occupational exposure cases. He learned litigation of mineral law issues under eminent Liskow lawyers like Larry Simon in the era of take-or-pay disputes and disputes over royalty valuation, joint operating agreements , mineral development and transactions, affiliate marketing, gas processing, and – finally and most prominently, landowner claims. Those landowner claims were transformed by the Louisiana Supreme Court’s 2003 Corbello decision, which gave rise the modern world of Louisiana legacy litigation – high risk environmental claims bought by landowners based on heritage operations dating to the early 1900’s. George has been one of the central lawyers, along with distinguished colleagues in his own firm and others, defending industry clients against environmental claims, and litigating other environmental issues under state and federal environmental laws. Through his career he has led and participated in numerous bench and jury trials. In 2015 he was made a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He remains active in his energy litigation practice, counselling clients and mentoring younger lawyers.

George was born and raised in south Louisiana, where his father practiced law and later served as a judge. He attended LSU, graduating with honors in 1983, and then from LSU Law School in 1986, where he wrote for the Law Review and was named to the Order of the Coif. Following graduation he clerked for Henry Politz at the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, before joining Liskow & Lewis. Married to his wife, Lynn Reynolds, whom he met at LSU and who is also a lawyer, they raised three children. In 2024 George and Lynn were blessed with their first grandchild.
