Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms!

Gardening enhances the students understanding of nature and the ecosystem, encouraging curiosity about how plants grow and the importance of biodiversity. Additionally, it can be a wonderful way to promote healthy eating habits, as children are often more inclined to try fruits and vegetables they’ve grown themselves.

Today in our Montessori classroom, one of our students explored math in a truly hands-on and meaningful way. Using the Golden Beads and number tiles, he worked on building and understanding numbers into the hundreds and thousands.

Rather than memorizing numbers, he is physically seeing and feeling the difference between units, tens, hundreds, and thousands. Each bead and cube represents a quantity, helping him develop a deep understanding of place value—one of the most important foundations in mathematics.

Through this activity, he is learning:
• How numbers are built and organized
• The concept of quantity vs. symbol
• Early addition and number sequencing
• Focus, independence, and problem-solving

What makes Montessori math so powerful is that children move from concrete (what they can touch and see) to abstract (numbers on paper). This process builds true confidence and long-term understanding—not just short-term memorization.

We love watching these moments of concentration and discovery, where learning becomes both joyful and meaningful.

🎨✨ At Soraya Montessori Academy, our students are diving into the vibrant world of art as they explore the techniques of legendary artists like Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, and Georges Seurat! From the swirling skies of Van Gogh’s "Starry Night" to Monet’s soft impressions in "Water Lilies," and Seurat’s captivating pointillism, our young artists are learning firsthand about these iconic styles.
Using an array of tools such as rollers, stencils, Q-tips, and sponges, they are experimenting with different mediums, including chalk pastels, oil pastels, and paint. It’s inspiring to see their creativity flourish as they bring these masterful techniques to life. 🖌️💖
