World Art Day

This holiday falls annually on the 15th of April, the same day as the birth of world-famous artist, Leonardo da Vinci (1452). Due to Leonardo da Vinci’s many talents – he was a renowned painter, sculptor, writer, innovator, philosopher, and thinker – his birthday was an ideal selection for a day celebrating all things creative.

World Art Day is the perfect time to celebrate creativity and bring joy to others:

• Draw a picture.
• Compose a song.
• Write a poem or story.
• Paint.
• Create and send Mail Art.
• Have a party!

On Thursday, April 9, I recorded a short message for all of our Saigling Artists and sent it our classroom teachers to attach to the regular grade level Google Classroom pages. If its not there, please let me know. I'm hoping everyone gets a chance to see it. I miss our artists and love to see the art they are creating while at home. Lessons have been streamlined so that students should be able to complete them on their own. I'm looking forward to your awesome art!!

When we return to school, Marcus and Joanna will both receive one of the large Lego crayon people from the art room treasure box.

Let's do something CREATIVE and FUN !!
How about a SAIGLING COMMUNITY ART CHALLENGE?!!
I saw this on Facebook and couldn't wait to share it with our Saigling artists and their families!!

This challenge was tweeted out from the Getty Museum.

"We challenge you to recreate a work of art with objects (and people) in your home.
1. Choose your favorite artwork.
2. Find three things lying around your house.
3. Recreate the artwork with those items.
And share with us."
