World Art Day
This holiday falls annually on the 15th of April, the same day as the birth of world-famous artist, Leonardo da Vinci (1452). Due to Leonardo da Vinci’s many talents – he was a renowned painter, sculptor, writer, innovator, philosopher, and thinker – his birthday was an ideal selection for a day celebrating all things creative.
World Art Day is the perfect time to celebrate creativity and bring joy to others:
• Draw a picture.
• Compose a song.
• Write a poem or story.
• Paint.
• Create and send Mail Art.
• Have a party!
On Thursday, April 9, I recorded a short message for all of our Saigling Artists and sent it our classroom teachers to attach to the regular grade level Google Classroom pages. If its not there, please let me know. I'm hoping everyone gets a chance to see it. I miss our artists and love to see the art they are creating while at home. Lessons have been streamlined so that students should be able to complete them on their own. I'm looking forward to your awesome art!!

Here is a fun challenge for you to train your brain and

How about a SAIGLING COMMUNITY ART CHALLENGE?!!
I saw this on Facebook and couldn't wait to share it with our Saigling artists and their families!!
This challenge was tweeted out from the Getty Museum.
"We challenge you to recreate a work of art with objects (and people) in your home.
1. Choose your favorite artwork.
2. Find three things lying around your house.
3. Recreate the artwork with those items.
And share with us."
I've attached a few of the Getty entries.
Let the competition BEGIN!

Hey AMAZING Saigling Artists!! I hope everyone is doing well and staying busy during our extended time away from school.
Lets have some art fun and stay creative by having a weekly art challenge. This week's Creativity Challenge #1 is to create a color wheel with objects from around the house. No art supplies needed. When you are finished, take a photo and send it to me and I'll post it here on our Saigling Art page. Have fun artists and let's see your creativity shine!
I'll also attach a couple more art activities for those of you who want to make more art. Each week I'll send more fun and arty things to do.

CRAYOLA COLORCYCLE YOUR MARKERS!!
Saigling Elementary is now in its second year of the Crayola ColorCycle program! Last year we recycled over 1600 used markers!! Way to go, Stallions!!
As the Crayola ColorCycle contact person here at Saigling Elementary, I would like to extend marker recycling to our Saigling community. If you would like to recycle your markers from home please send them to school with your student. The markers can be brought to the art room or can be deposited in one of two green and white recycle “Marker” boxes. One is located at the door of the art room and the other is located at the front door of the library next to the WOW Words board.
Crayola will accept all brands of plastic markers, not just Crayola markers. That includes dry erase markers and highlighters! ColorCycle will eliminate placing hundreds of tons of markers into landfills.
Remember, don’t throw out that used marker—ColorCycle it!
